I purchased a used motor from this company and it was assured to me that it was in good working order. The motor I received was not working correctly and when installed had an oil pressure light on in the dashboard. When they pulled my oil pan to put a new oil pump in to attempt to fix the oil pressure issue, they were metal shavings in the oil pan signifying that it was no good. My mechanic informed me that the motor I bought was not in good condition and did not function properly. Even after I told Liberty Auto Salvage that this was an issue, they insisted that it was good and went so far as to say that "it wasn't that bad" (see text conversation pic.) I purchased parts and had labor done to this motor by my mechanics to attempt to fix the issues with it. Nothing worked to fix it and the company is making me pay for all of the labor included in this process, which equates to approximately $3000. After discussing this with Liberty Auto Salvage, they declined to help me in any way with the labor and parts claiming I did not purchase a warranty for parts or labor. However, this is not a warranty issue considering the product I bought is not the product that was advertised. Liberty Auto Salvage has already stated that they will be giving me my $5200 that I paid for the motor but that still leaves me with a $3000 bill for my mechanic.

    Business response

    04/11/2022

Business Response The customer states that the engine was not "working correctly" when it was installed although he did informed us after he installed it that it was, indeed 'running great" but the only problem was that the oil pressure warning light was on. We tried to help him remedy the problem over the phone but to no avail. Eventually we mutually agreed to have the engine returned for a full refund. When it was sold it was shipped on a freight truck and the customer was aware that he was responsible for all freight charges. Although ALL freight charges are the customers responsibility we not only refunded him the original 250.00 freight that he paid to have the engine shipped to him we also paid an additional 250.00 to have it shipped BACK to us when he decided to return it. In regard to any labor cost reimbursement that he is requesting, we do offer labor coverage on all parts we sell, although it is NOT included in the cost of the part and it must be purchased extra in addition to the original cost of the part at the time of the sale. Labor coverage was offered on this engine but was declined (see invoice) therefore there is no labor coverage or reimbursement on this engine. We're very sorry that the customer was dissatisfied with his purchase but we not only gave him a full refund, we also paid for ALL of the freight both ways, 500.00, which we were not obligated to do. The engine he purchased was the engine "advertised" and included a standard 90 day money back or replacement warranty only.
