Monday April 18th 2022 I brought my tire to midas (16126 stony plain road edmonton alberta canada) to be repaired. They didn't have time to fix it that day so told me if I removed it from the car and left it there they would fix it and I could pick up that week. I got a call the next day from a lady that works there. She said my tire was ready for pickup and had 2 holes repaired. The total would be around 36 dollars. She said that they didn't have time to put the tire on but could make an appointment if I chose to get them to install it. I had her make an appointment for Monday April 25th 2022 at 1pm. I arrived April 25th 2022 at 12:55pm I was helped by a man named *****. ***** said my tire was ready but he didn't have me booked for an appointment. He called the lady that made the appt from the back room when I showed him a had a conformation email and said now he had to fit me in with all the other angry customers and that he was angry that I needed it installed. I was fine waiting till he had time. At 1:08pm he told me to come have a look at my tire that they have now had in their possession since April 18th... it all of a sudden it was flat and couldn't be installed. He told me there was now a third puncture at the shoulder of the tire and it couldn't be repaired. I asked how there was a third puncture when my tire has been ready for pickup for almost a week. How would it all of a sudden now be flat and not ready. I was told too bad that they must have missed the puncture and that I now had to buy a new tire... If my tire was ready for pickup for 6 days sitting in their store and I was just waiting for an appointment to have them install it how did it all of a sudden have another puncture... that must have happened in the shop especially since there was no item in the tire there just a puncture that showed up after my tire was already ready for a week just waiting for an appointment to go on my car. I was told ***** the mechanic did the repairs and I asked if I could talk to him at first I was told no but I pressed the issue and was told that he would come talk to me. ***** came out and I asked if there was a third puncture on the tire when he repaired it. He told me there was not. That there were only 2 punctures and both had been repaired and he did a soap test afterwards to make sure that the tire was fixed. I asked ***** to please explain how my tire got damaged in their care. He started yelling and saying I was causing trouble and they wouldnt do anything for me. He kept saying he was not going to buy me a new tire. These tires are only 1.5 years old. They were installed by that store when they were brand new. They were purchased online from 1010tires.com. They still have 10/32 wear and are basically like new. The only reason it even had a puncture was because my garage lost some shingles and the nails were on the pad when I backed up... Anyways I asked to speak with the boss. Herb came out and he knows me as I have been a customer for awhile. Herb stated that he would do something for me and would get me a tire. I was upset that it would not match the other 3 tires at all but finally agreed to it after being told it didn't matter that it didn't match. He wrote me a quote for almost 300 dollars and told me thats the best he could do I would have to buy a tire and he would throw in the installation...(I found out later on that it absolutly does matter that the tire doesn't match as it can cause issues because I have an awd vehicle all 4 tires must match to be safe so what he offered me was making my car unsafe!) I was not paying 300 dollars for something that happened in their shop under their care... I asked to speak to the owner Mike who I seen was in the shop and they kept saying no they wouldn't let me talk to him. Finally after pressing **** came out by chance and I introduced myself and asked if I could talk to him. He took me outside the door and i explained what happened to him I was told by Mike that thats the best they can do and too bad for me... I offered to split the difference because I wanted to just get on with my day but they wouldn't even cover half the cost of the new tire they wanted me to buy...(even though this would have made my car unsafe to drive because the treads don't match as it is an awd vehicle!) I am very upset. My tire was damaged in the care of Midas and I want an explanation why they were so careless with my property and also why they won't take responsibility for their actions and replace the tire! Now after speaking with multiple shops I find out I can't replace just 1 tire because no shop will only replace 1 tire on an awd vehicle as it is not safe and the tires I have (kuhmo solus ha31) have been discontinued by the manufacturer and there is not even 1 tire available in Canada. I had to end up paying out of pocket almost 1000 dollars for 4 new tires (kuhmo ha32 the new model of the ones i had) plus i had to pay for mount and balance at another shop (I wasn't going back to that store after being treated that way. I am almost 70 years old and on oxygen with a heart issue I did not need nor deserve to be yelled at and treated that way by these men)... all this because Midas damaged my tire beyond repair while in their care and wouldn't help rectify the problem.

Customer brought in a tire for repair, technician repaired 2 punctures that were identifiable upon initial inspection.

A third puncture that was not identified upon the initial inspection was later observed in the sidewall, it is a industry standard to not repair punctures in sidewalls.

Customer then accused Midas of negligence and demanded a new tire. We explained the 3rd puncture is in a non repairable zone, therefore it is upon them to replace the tire at their cost.

Due to the nature of customers actions and accusations Midas will not be assisting this customer in any way and will not perform any further services for them.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I was called and told the tire was ready for pickup and made an appointment to have it installed. If there was a third puncture they would have told me upon calling me when they told me my tire was ready to pick up not after bringing my car in and sitting there 15 minutes waiting then being told oh no its flat must be another puncture hold on we will check... my tire was ready for days and I had to wait for an appointment to have it installed which is why it was sitting in the shop for almost a week if it had a 3rd puncture they could have called me any day that week and told me that it had an issue... not told me it was repaired fully and then when I come in all of a sudden its flat. If no response I will be taking this to small claims court

    Sincerely,

    ****** ******

They gave me a report saying my Front & Rear Rotors are crack and it's not safe to drive. I spend $600 to buy new Rotors and fix them at a different Place. When I went to pick my Car from the mechanic, he asked me why I change the Rotors and I showed them the Report that they were cracked, and he said they were all good and nothing wrong with them. I spend $600 for nothing because of the false report. (repair order *********** when i went to them and asked why the told me the rotors are cracked they said they made a mistake. *******************************************

Midas is not responsible for customers buying habits and he may want to ask his installer why they replaced them if nothing was indeed wrong.
