Initial Date: 4/15/23 Renewed following components in the months prior to visiting fountain tire branch 109:tie rods + ends Wheel bearings front and rear Rack and pinion (albeit a used one with approx 25,000km on it)Brought ******** to fountain sometime after the aforementioned work was performed. Needed tires and an alignment, I told them two conditions for the tires: Can't be Chinese and have to be zr rated, and I defered to the manager for rest. Car was on 18 inch rims all the way around.6,000km later and 1 out of two rear tires popped (fountain installed wrong tire size), and fronts down to cords. ************* backed out from unticketed technician failing to tork them down after his inspection and removal of any corrosion, which would adversly affect the alignment. ******* came of in reverse and jammed on rim, wrecking it.Found and purchased 4 rims, they came as two 9" wides, and two 10.5's, but they were 20" rims.Found out the only tire size that would fit on either of the two staggered rims was 265/30r20's, corrected order, just to have them order 265/35's. They mount these to the 10.5 rims and now they rub outside sidewall. Then had inspection performed, which they then try to hide their dangerous work, find nothing to explain erratic misalignment numbers front and rear. I have since discovered that what caused that is spinning my adjustment bolts instead of the nut-tearing the rubber bushing that make up the suspension components which were being adjusted. Also, at least 1 or 2 of the alignment values went from perfect or near perfect- to barely within tolerance after the initial alignment. They offer refund for two lousy tires, and state that after each of us talk to ********, manager would order right sized tires as warranty if I found the correct OEM 16" rims. He instead orders under rated sailun tires- contrary to ******** people Manager agrees to pay bill for damages pending MB mechanical inspection. Trip to *************************** fails to honor.

    Customer response

    12/07/2024

I retract the part of my resolution mentioning compensation.    Instead i want fountain tire to make good on the managers written undertaking to repair all damages that are likely attributable to over 6000km with damaged alignment bushings (since i have since discovered they adjusted alignment by spinning the bolts- ruining the alignment bushings, rather then only adjusting it with the nut end, as per WIS for ******** w220), and tires that bottomed out due to beeing the incorrect size- ordered and mounted on two seperate occassions.    Fountain tire doesn't want to honor the contract which is ******************* acknowledging that damage has occured after work which was negligent- and continues to this day.    ****, the new manager promised to talk to ******** benz edmonton- he undertook to order the right tires.    The right tires are exactly what the previous manager put on the car, twice, with incorrect rear sizing on both occassions; good years, or what i specified; Michelin sport 3's.    That is it. The one thing i specified was no chinese tires.    ****, acting in bad faith ordered under rated, non factory, 100$ chinese tires.    He figures that refunding me for 2 incorrect oversized tires which his predacessor ordered and mounted last spring, and refunding me for an improper alignmeny performed without their certified teck on shift somehow relieves them of all duties and responsibility.    This is not the case, as the work they performed as a shop, and the subsequent follow up and acceptance of warranty on new tires is negligant.    Fountain insists they disnt touch the calipers, of which one hadbits bottom bolt come out in reverse, and ruined one of the oem 18" rims. They are either lying- or telling the truth- in which case they didnt even perform the visual inspectuon and cleaning and removal of any corrossion or rust on contact surfaces- which would require removal of the caliper.    They did not set any weights and conditions which are required for doing the job, and obtaining a correct alignment- nor did they obtain the correct procedure, even after being notified of these requirements.    The last visit was april 30th for a cvi inspection which let a car leave with "0 items are okay on an inspection"- without detecting any anomalies on any of the components they brought farther away from spec or clearly damaged the flex disc in the driveline- with cv's yet to be inspected.    On top of all this- it turns out fountain tire swept said inspection under the rug, fortunately i, and cvse now have the originals.    So again- make good- if the suspension is defective its from oversized tires trying to rip the body off the sub frame- it is to be repaired.    The tires to be ordered and mounted on the oem 16" rims are to be michelin pilot sport 3 or 4"s, prior to ******** even allowing it up on the hoiste to assess the severity and probable causes of the damage.
