I’ve been trying to get my 1998 ***** **** inspected in BC so it can be insured. This week I drove it to a trusted mechanic for an initial inspection. Yesterday I drove it to 7 Days Auto, which has the authorization to improve the car. 7 Days Auto informed me the bushing on the rear arm was severely cracked. This surprised me as my trusted mechanic had not noticed any issues with suspension. 7 Days Auto charged me $84 for the inspection and asked an additional $580 to repair that part, or they would not approve my vehicle. I returned the car to the first mechanic and we inspected it together. We saw a massive, fresh crack in the bushing, distinctive because it was a completely different colour. The mechanic assured me it was not there when he inspected the car and is not noted in his report. The two shops are 1.5 kilometres apart and it seems next to impossible damage that severe would happen in so short a drive. I phoned the owner of 7 Days auto and demanded an explanation, as it seemed very likely he accidentally or intentionally had caused serious damage to my car and was now charging me to fix it. He did not provide any explanation and invited me only to submit a complaint to an **** lead inspector, which I have done. *** ******* ************* ****** *** ********* *****  I’m asking the BBB for help as I feel strongly I should not have to pay for this damage and that 7 Days auto is using its status as a licenced out of province approver to extract more money from me. I can provide receipts and other documentation upon request.

    Better Business Bureau:

Thanks for this. Since submitting this complaint, I've reflected on the event, and have decided it is not worth pursuing. I accept ****'s response as sincere. He did not strike me as a bad person, and my reaction to him came mostly from the shock of seeing the damage to my car. I accept I don't have the hard evidence needed to formally blame him for what happen; it is his word against the other mechanics, and it was unfair of me to blame him for the event given that lack of evidence. For this, I apologize to ****.

I made the decision in the end to sell my vehicle and no longer have a car. This was a difficult decision I made out of financial necessity and an inability to afford the repairs needed without some type of other financial sacrifice. I acknowledge my stress in this situation may have caused me to be overly harsh with **** over the phone, which does not excuse that behaviour.

For these reasons, I'd appreciate you closing the complaint, and passing my apology to **** for any inconvenience this may have caused him.

    All the best,

    ***
