I live in *******, ** but used to live in *******, ** until I retired. I always respected and admired how customer leaning they are. When I noticed my tires needed to be replaced I decided to drive to the coast and get them replaced in ******* at Kal Tire. I found the tires I wanted and made an appointment for Dec 23 at 10. I arrived early and they didnt start on my vehicle until close to 11. When I handed my keys to the guy helping me I told him to be careful with my fob as its seen better days. An hour later I notice my car has been backed out of the bay and parked but I wasnt called up to the dest for another 20 minutes. They told me my back brakes were in danger of failing and could sieze up. Why did you pull it out of the shop then? Anyway, I felt something wasnt right so I said no to the ****** back brake job and paid my bill and left. I get into the car insert the key and the fob falls apart into 3 pieces. Cowards could not even be honest and have the courage to tell me they broke my already damaged fob. Once I figured out how to get the car driving with a broken fob and 2 minutes later at highway speed on the ********************* something fell out of my engine area and crashed into the undercarriage. Scared the living c*** out of me. I get back to ******* and schedule a oil change at my local me shop and asked him to check the rear brakes. When I picked up my car he said not to worry about the brakes till July or August. I wont make the mistake of going to Kal Tire ******* ever again.Kal Tire Response

The brakes installed by Kal Tire was making loud, screeching noises. I was told there was an 8:00 AM opening for me to bring my vehicle in to have this checked. They then decided to replace both the rotors and brake pads, under warranty, and this replacement and installation took 4.5-hrs.A few hours later, my vehicle's brakes began making intermittent screeching noises that became regular noises. Knowing that vehicle noises seem to disappear when a mechanic is listening, I make multiple recordings to play for the Kal Tire representative. I booked a 10:00 AM and broungt my car in before the scheduled time. After waiting for 2-hours, I noticed that my vehicle still hadn't been looked at. So, I asked the representative for an estimated repair time. He told me he didn't know I was waiting for it - I was in the waiting room all this time an within his and everyone other representative's view. When the technician looked at my brakes, he noticed that the passenger side rear brake pad had come loose, and the pin that held it in place was worn because the pad had come lose. He wanted to simply re-install this worn part, instead of replacing it. I insisted that he replace it, and I asked to have the old pad back to insure he didn't re-install it. However, he needed to return the old pad for the warranty claim. Instead, he marked the old part so I could veiw it later to confirm it was not re-installed. However, later I thought he could've marked any old brake pad to show me.Approximately 1-month later, I have the same intermittent brake sound. I am trying to record this sound, because I am sure they won't simply take my word for it. By the way, I am terrified to highway drive, and I haven't since my Kal Tire brake rotors and brake pads' installation.Kal Tire Response

Kal Tire responded to my original complaint with: "We want to assure you that reinstalling used or worn parts is not the standard of work we uphold at Kal Tire. We take great pride in our honesty, integrity, and commitment to quality workmanship."Well, my January 20, 2025, experience to fix the December 3, 2024, problem contradicts this statement. Here is my experience, it is long, but it serves as a cautionary tale for why you need to see the problem and why you need to request the old parts:The Kal Tire store responded to my BBB complaint, and they promised to install GM OEM parts. I was happy they were going to fix the brake problem. However, my experience with them went downhill quickly:Once the technician began working on my vehicle, the Jr. ******* informed me that the slider pins on the rear passenger side were loose, and I needed to replace them. I asked him to show me the problem. He retrieved the rear brake component that housed these slider pins and tried to convince me that these pins were loose by moving the pins left to right. I did not see any discernible movement, so I was not convinced that there was an issue. Because I wasn't willing to wait an hour for the new pins to arrive, he told me that in most cases it is just the pins rubber grommets (gaskets) that they needed to replace, and that repair would take less time. Now, that begs the question of why they did not do that simple repair on December 3, 2024?I told him that they had replaced slider pins on December 3, 2024 (claimed they were "seized"), and that I wanted to compare those new pins to the old ones that he now claims are "loose". He retrieved what was supposed to be the new slider pins that Kal Tire installed on December 3, 2024. They looked identical to the old slider pins that he wanted to replace. I asked him why the new slider pins that were less than 2-months old looked identical to the old slider pins that were over 2-years old. He told me that the new slider pins were not painted and that they were exposed to the elements, consequently aging it faster. He also claimed the old ones had pit marks that the new ones did not have. I could not see the difference. By the way, if you ****** slider pins, these metal pins do not appear to be painted. However, the Jr. ******* tried extremely hard to prove that what he was showing me were new slider *********, I asked him to remove his thumb from the new slider pins rubber grommet (gasket), and then asked him why a new slider pin would have a rubber grommet (gasket) that were already disintegrating? He then agreed that these pins were not new. He should have immediately identified that these rubber grommets (gaskets) were not new. He should have known the difference between new and old ones. Because, earlier, he had suggested that new rubber grommets (gaskets) would work and speed up the repair time.I told him that he had charged me for new slider pins that were not installed on my 2013 Buick Verano on December 3, 2024, and that he needed to reverse this charge. He agreed. I asked him if his technician knew it was illegal to charge someone for a product that was not installed? He did not answer. He indicated that he did not know what happened to the new slider pins because it was not in their storeroom. Not trusting them to install the ** Delco, OEM brake pads, I asked to see the old pads when they removed them (the new NAPA pads they claimed to have installed on December 3, 2024) and to see the ** Delco pads once installed. The brake pads they removed on January 20, 2025, and they claimed to have installed on December 3, 2024, had rust and looked a lot older than brake pads installed less than 2-months ago should look (I have had mechanics show me old pads to confirm wear patterns, before. In fact, in my garage, I have a set of brake pads Kal Tire removed from my vehicle on April 13, 2023, that were over 2-years old and had more than ******km of use that are in better shape.). I took pictures and videos of these pads to help we work with others to confirm their age. The code on some pads showed Yr 21. I have forwarded these to NAPAs General *******, Client Services to have him comment whether or not these NAPA brake pads are only 2-months old. I wish I could post pictures so people can see the state of these brake pads. Also, I am leery whether or not they installed GM OEM brake pads, because they never showed me these pads once they were installed. I will contact Consumer Protection Ontario to determine if I can have an independent mechanic check my vehicle and then charge Kal Tire for this work. I am terrified to drive my car, knowing how important the brakes are.Incorrectly installing pads (as detailed in my original complaint), not installing parts you paid for and was told were needed for the drivers safety, and possibly reinstalling old parts, instead of the parts shown on the invoice endangers peoples safety and lives. I hope my story is the impetus for a class-action suit. I will research and post my findings.Review from Steven Y

Kal Tire on ******** told me they would fix a flat before 6pm when I called them at 9am. Arrived at 9:30 Am, man standing at counter did not greet or acknowledge my presence. When I asked to book my vehicle, he asked me to wait for him to help me. He continued on the computer for five more minutes, meanwhile, two more employees came & started work on the computers behind the till and did not offer help. I was the only person in the shop at this time. After this needless exertion of power, the man was ready to book my vehicle. I booked and left the store. I called at 4pm and asked if my flat would be fixed before 6pm as I would have to take an **** there. They assured me it would be done. I asked for a call to let me know if it wasnt so I could make other arrangements. They did not call. I took an ****, thinking my flat would be repaired by 6pm. My vehicle was parked in the same spot upon arrival. When I walked in, the same man was sitting in the back office, chatting with his co worker. I asked for help and he told me he would be with me soon while he finished up shooting the breeze. I told them I wasnt doing this again after he did the same thing, making me stand around like an idiot for no apparent reason this morning. He surmised my vehicle was not done and it would be a half an hour wait. I told him I would not be waiting. He filled my tire with air and gave me my keys. Kal tire contacted me after leaving a review on ******, stating the management team would be in touch soon. This was now roughly 2.5 days ago and I have not heard anything. This is a terrible reflection of Kal Tires customer ********************** practices as a whole. I am thoroughly disappointed and as I have said in another review, I will never give any business to Kal Tire.Kal Tire Response

Ive been on a roller-coaster journey trying to get my winter tires from the Kal Tire Crowfoot (*******) ********* all started on October 21st, when I called to schedule an appointment to purchase Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 tires (245/45/19) and have them swapped. The earliest slot they offered was for November 1st. However, upon arrival on that date, we discovered that the representative had booked the wrong dimensions. They rebooked us for November 9th.On November 4th, I called them to request an additional alignment service, only to hear something even more surprising: the representative informed me that we werent even booked for November 9th, due to a mistake from the representative who had assisted us at the shop on Nov 4th. The new representative then rescheduled our appointment for tire purchase, swap, and alignment on November 9th.We finally had everything done on November 9th, but a few hours later we noticed an inconsistency with the tire manufacturing dates: one tire was manufactured in 2022, another in 2023, and we couldnt find the dates on the other two because the markings were on the inside. We went back to Kal Tire the same day to speak with the manager. He promised to order four matching 2024 tires from ***********, which would take another two weeks to arrivefine, we thought, wed wait. But then came another shock: we were told wed have to pay an additional $176 for the service!I was appalled. Not only did this branch try to sell me outdated tires without any prior notice, but they also expected me to pay more to fix their own mistake.Kal Tire Response

I am reaching out with serious concerns about the issue I am facing with outdated tires provided by the Kal Tire Crowfoot branch again. Despite several attempts to resolve this, I have not received a satisfactory outcome yet ******** explained in my first comment, one tyre is manufactured in 2022, another in 2023 and the manufacturing dates of the remaining two are unknown since the markings are facing inward. After posting my first comment on **************************, the branch manager contacted me to arrange a replacement for the outdated 2022-manufactured tires. Then, my appointment was set for November 16th. On November 15th, I was informed that some kind of mix up happened so they had to book me on the 19th. I arrived on 19th expecting to have tires manufactured in 2023/2024 installed, but once again, only after demanding to cross check the manufacturing year, I was shocked to learn that the new tires were still from 2022. The manager explained they have no visibility about the manufacturing year until it arrives their shop! I understand that. Then why did the manager book me for the 16th or 19th for tyre replacement? Does anyone here value our efforts and time to visit their branch for the fourth time now? Why did I not got a call from the manager informing that my issue cannot be resolved rather he had said everything would be taken care of?To date, I have visited the branch four times to get new winter tyres, and each visit has required me to take leaves from work, causing significant problems. I am now worried that I might run out of time under the 30-day return policy, which would further complicate the issue. Can Kal tyre tell me whether this issue can be fixed or not in simple language? Just yer or no would suffice! My next step would be to proceed contacting the provincial consumer protection office. From a consumer perspective, it's reasonable to expect tires that are as fresh as possible, especially if you are paying full price. I have the rights to express my dissatisfaction due to several inconveniences so far. Additionally, there is no transparency from Kal Tyres until I demand to cross validate the year of manufacturing. I want fresher tires no matter what and its upto Kal Tyres to tell me yes we can .. or now we cant ! Do not book me another appointment again to tell that you guyz have got 2022 tyres yet again after I reach there!I request that this matter be escalated to a higher level and addressed urgently. I expect a solution that ensures I receive tires manufactured in 2023 or later before the return policy period expires. I am ready to go for another brand.Review from Blaine L

Looks like Kal Tire has a policy of overbooking appointments and truly don't care about customer **********************. I booked a Tire service at the ************** location, in advance, only to be told they didn't have time that day to do the work. Similar issue with the new Creekside location a week later. I made an appointment however they couldn't complete the wheel alignment because they got "delayed". It was 2 hours later I decided they'd wasted enough of my time and left. The manager did give me a free wheel swap but they need to organize the jobs so appointments get honored.I'll be going somewhere else now.Kal Tire Response

I brought my 2010 Doge Ram 1500 into the Tsawwassen store due to a front end noise and a vibration in the steering wheel when driving. They had previously replaced both cv axels Feb 16th 2024 for $1442.45. The mechanic test drove and put it on the hoist and could not find an issue. The noise was not intermittent and was asked by passengers I have had in the truck what was wrong with it. The fellow behind the desk also said he took it for a test drive and did not hear any noise. I told them I was disappointed they could not find an issue and would have to take it elsewhere. The following Monday I took it to Fountain tire. They diagnosed the noise and vibration issue and replaced the bearing hubs. The truck now has no noise or vibration issue. I cannot believe they said there was no issue.Kal Tire Response

I have had good service in the past, about 1.5 yrs ago but now I have had poor treatment as a customer and a terrifying experience. I have stored my tires with Kal Tire several seasons, I was informed that my summer tires were good for one more season when they put them on my vehicle. I had to take the car in to a very reputable repair shop and they looked the tires that were just put on and told me that they were unsafe and should not be driven on (they are not in the business of selling tires and they repair commercial vehicles for big companies.) I told Kal Tire that I had a report on the tires and that they should not have been put on- they are in the business of selling ********* am happy to have good tires- so weird! The Manager was rude to me but could not argue with the report on the tires. He refunded me $60.00 for something that could have caused me and others grievous injury! DO NOT GO HERE, PLEASE.Kal Tire Response
