Had my furniture delivered June 10, 2022 to McSherry Auction for auction sale. As I am 90 years old with previous stroke and heart failure, I did not attend auction but was assured my items would be displayed, auctioned, and I would be notified of same. I did not hear anything (either by phone or mail), for a few weeks, so I phoned McSherry end of June. They told me they would look into it and get back to me. I did not hear from McSherry, I called numerous times, was never given any info on sale of my items, where they were or ended up. My daughter finally emailed McSherry July 22, 2022. They emailed back, "apologized for any confusion and stress", said a "cheque was in the mail" ASAP, and gave a list of items sold but no money value to each. My daughter tried to find the items on their website but could not locate them - there are thousands! Also, there are numerous items I had delivered that are not on that list so I don't know what's happened to them. My daughter has re emailed McSherry regarding this and has not heard back. Meanwhile, I am waiting for the cheque, but am very disappointed in McSherry business operations.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/09) */ I (Stuart) went to owner's apartment and gave a free Consultation back in April/May. The gentleman **************** expected an auction to happen in his apartment, which is not a service we offer. I told him what was sellable and what was not. It did not seem like he was absorbing the instruction. He thought he could sell everything. He was told no to: the couch, the living room chairs that were cloth and dirty (as an example). I said I was not interested in coming back to pick up any items as there were only a few items of value & not a profitable enough for both parties. He arranged trucking with a different company and sent a whole bunch of items that had previously been denied. We only unloaded a handful of items and consigned them out in his name. The exceptions would be: a BBQ that, with further inspection, found the burners were rusted out and the grill was grossly dirty & 2 cloth jackets that had rips and were dirty went to the garbage bin. %90 of the items stayed on the truck, it is believed that same company took the remaining items to a landfill but it would've been up to that company to discuss the final event with the owner. We received a phone call from the trucking company wanting payment for the landfill fees, they were then advised that McSherry did not hire you and it's not our responsibility to resolve. I offered them to call back 2 days after the auction sale closed in case they didn't receive payment and we have not heard anything from them since. As far as his payout, it was put on hold for a week to see if we would be in the middle of the transport dispute, it had then been overlooked for another week (our mistake). Upon initial request for their cheque, we put it in the mail that day. As far as items not sold - if items reviewed have value, we have no problem selling them, we work on commission. We tried to avoid this type of situation by going to the residence and assessing what can & cannot sell but he chose to send everything on his own anyway. We went to great lengths to avoid this and we have many customers that bring unsellable items to our back door that are turned away, declining unsellable items is not an unusual occurrence within our processing. At this point, I have no idea what can be expected to satisfy the situation. Two months ago the discussion was to use either, Kijiji, Marketplace on Facebook, Donation Drop Off Locations or a Landfill as there were too many items without auctionable value and McSherry Loading/Unloading Service would have been too expensive against the sale of items with value. We took what made sense, disposed of 2 items and sent the hauling vehicle away.

Apr 6 2022 I picked up an antique taillight, online bidding shows light as a brass light, when I picked it up I was handed a black metal light. I questioned the worker about it and he did know any more then the lot number was what I picking up. The picture (online biding) clearly shows *** as a brass lamp, not a metal lamp. I returned home to ** online and have alook as I may have been mistaken, but ********** the picture on McSherry bid site shows a brass lite..

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/18) */ Mcsherry Auction Service has been in business for 35 years, with the changing of the times we now conduct on-line auctions. Where we have multiple pictures on the website. We have on site viewing available and offer extra information by phone call or e-mail when requested. We advertised this Auto Light with no intention of misleading anyone, we called it an old auto light, it was nothing special and somehow this guy looked at the photo's and believed it was Brass. If it was we would have called it brass in the description of the item as they are more rare and worth more money. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************** The purchase price was $55.00 and that is what it is worth, a brass light goes for above $200.00 traditionally. We are a commission based business and sold the lamp for a client. There is nothing more for us to explain. *********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Thank You, Stuart McSherry McSherry Auction Service Ltd.
