Jose went to our house and we explained to him what we wanted done On his request, we sent him the painting details in writing via a text as well as the movement of a divider. His response was that he could charge us $**** We paid him $**** up front Later, we discovered he had no intention of moving the divider in the kitchen and that he had not read all the text messages we had sent him. In essence, he had given us a price for work to be done without him reading the work we had requested him to do. Later, we discovered that he had not wanted to paint the ceilings which we had explained to him in person and in the messages. Finally, he read the messages and he apologized for his error. He then proposed a new deal of us paying him an extra $*** for the extra paint to paint the ceilings and he would pay for the labour. We agreed to this new deal. On Saturday, June 1, we went to check on the job and discovered MANY problems. 1.The ceiling in the living room was not painted and he refused to paint it. 2. We noticed a large 18.9L pail of paint in the house which he used to paint the ceilings. However, that was a cheap paint that we had not agreed to be used. He mixed up the colours. 3. The dark blue colour intended for the ceiling of our sons room was put on the living room, kitchen and bathroom walls. 4. We also found the antique curtain rod all apart laying on the floor waiting to be stepped on and broken. 5. Paint on wooden trim and baseboards 6. Poor surface preparation. For example, can still see where former mirror was hung, painted over peeling paint in our daughters bedroom around the light fixture. 7. We discovered that he had used rollers and brushes and as a result the finish was not smooth as we had expected when he said that he was going to use a sprayer. We then sent him a text expressing our disappointment. His response was that he was abandoning the job and was going to keep all the money and demanded that we no longer communicate with him.
