Fredericton Dental Centre made an Intraoral Appliance for me which is used for sleep apnea. They made the appliance and on July 19, 2022 when they installed it, it broke one of my bottom teeth. Dr ****** ***** couldn't fix the tooth because he said a filling wouldn't last, so he ground my tooth down to get the rough edges off it. His assistant made adjustments to the appliance. I never noticed until later that evening that the 4 teeth beside it were feeling very rough. To me, it seemed that the Intraoral Appliance broke the top off 4 more teeth that were beside the other one it broke. The next day I went back to complain. Dr ****** *****, looked at my teeth and said it was wear, that it only broke one tooth. He made more adjustments to the appliance. I took the appliance home and started to wear it. I wore it for about 2 weeks and started to notice that the edges of my teeth on the top row were also starting to get rough. I went back this morning to see my regular dentist, Dr ****-*** ********, who works at the same clinic. He only works a week a month so I had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment. I wanted to find out why the appliance is breaking my teeth and to get another adjustment made. He didn't look at my teeth. He didn't check to see if the appliance was fitting properly. He told me the appliance is great, that he has done thousands of these appliances, and that it is not the appliance that is chipping/breaking my teeth, that they are breaking themselves from wear and grinding. He showed me pictures of before I started wearing the appliance and said my teeth were already worn. He did not look at my teeth nor did they take more pictures/x-rays to see what condition they are in since I started wearing the appliance. Fredericton Dental Centre is showing total disregard for my teeth, and accept no accountability for what happened. I paid $539.85 for commercial lab fees and $752.15 for the appliance. I would like all of my money back.

This patient and I have had two conversations since this complaint was issued and it was too late to retract it.  This patient has agreed to let us try to resolve this issue and hope to find a resolution that will result in a happy patient with an appliance that works for them.

    Thank you,

    *****

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not want to retract my complaint. During the first conversation after I filed the complaint, I told ***** that it was too late to retract it. I didn't say that I wanted to retract it. I feel the the only reason Fredericton Dental Centre is now willing to try to resolve this issue is because I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Otherwise they would have already resolved it. My appointment with them is on Dec 1, 2022. I would like to wait until after the issue is completely resolved and the appliance fits, or they make me a new one that fits before I accept their response. I also 3need to know how much damage has been done to my teeth.

I apologize for indicating you wanted to retract your complaint.  That was my misunderstanding.  I absolutely agree that this complaint should wait to be resolved until after you see the Dentist.
