    February 16 - death occurred February 17 - funeral home picked up body from hospital and transported it to third party cremation service provider. February 18 - funeral home picked up ashes and called us to come pick them up. Now funeral home is charging 1945.00 for “professional services” in addition to cremation and transportation charges on an invoice received February 28th. When asked what the “professional services” pertained to, the funeral home said “we have bills to pay, we have heat and light and insurance”. No contract was provided to us. We want to know if we HAVE to pay this 1945.00 amount.

    Yes there was a contract and it was signed by Antoinette Lynch.  I am sending copies of the contract , the invoice in the mail.

     

    I told my husband (Garry Holloway) after Antionette Lynch had left the Funeral Homme that we were going to have trouble with Ms. Lynch.

     

    If they had spent more time in the office  instead of out in the lobby on their cell phones they would have heard and paid more attention to  what was going on.

     I am rejecting this response because:

    **** indicated items on a form and listed prices, however, he did not discuss these prices with us. In fact, ******* ****** requested a copy of what he was filling out, and he did not provide a copy, he said it wasn't final yet and that **** would be finishing the paperwork.

    Also, this price list that he completed included opening and closing the grave site, flowers, and and urn/wake services. **** advised that because we weren't having a wake, the price of the urn was subject to change. Not 24 hours later, we decided as a family that we wanted to dig the grave and make a custom urn, and flowers were being given to us, we contacted you in writing to inform you of these changes.  

    The prices were in no way finalized and **** asked for a signature on the last page of the forms he was filling out, it was signed as an agreement to pay for services provided when the final invoice was completed, **** verbally indicated his list of prices were going to change. The next time we met, in fact, he said the price of the urn, which was originally over 4k, was down to 240 with "professional services" taken out. 

    Again, the specific issue here is the 1,945.00 +hst for professional services. Like I said, we did receive administrative services, which we are more than happy to pay for at a reasonable price. 

    Please adjust the 1,945 +hst amount down to a fee that reflects the services we did receive, and we will gladly pay.
