Not recommended at all. This is the worst, most unprofessional company I have ever encountered. They are irresponsible and do not deliver on their promises, making me feel completely untrustworthy of their work.If you want to avoid a headache and a stream of problems, stay far away from this company. My experience has been filled with frustration, and I deeply regret choosing them for my flooring needs. Save yourself the trouble and look for a more reliable option!Our project started on July 12, and here we are, over two and a half months later, with no completion in sight. Theyve left us with unfinished work, which has been incredibly frustrating.From low-quality materials to dealing with unprofessional and disorganized installation crews, the experience has been a nightmare. We received wood that had to be replaced, faced repeated delays, and encountered false statements throughout the process, adding to my frustration. When they presented the stairway nosing, it was nothing like I expected. They insisted I accept it, claiming they couldn't provide a better match to the original wood, which I found unacceptable. Now I have to pay out of my pocket to find another place to match the stain and install the nosing for me.Their lack of professionalism and poor communication only added to my dissatisfaction. Promises were made but never kept. If you're considering working with Hardwood Giant ***************** I urge you to think twice. You deserve better!If anyone wants to know more about my experience, Im happy to share further details. I had an excellent experience from ***** and ******.They were very professional and knowledgeable, and did everything they promised to do. They installed my 1200 sq ft of hardwood over a two day event, and even kept the work area swept and tidy.I would highly recommend Hardwood Giant Ottawa to anyone. In November 2023 we had engineered hardwood installed (about 1100 sq ft) plus new stairs. The flooring was reasonably well installed albeit with a few nails popping through and a few chips. The three-day estimated time to install the new oak stairs was actually completed in one day, and it shows. We learnt to accept that the stain on the oak stairs does not match the oak flooring but to add insult to injury not all of the staining was completed. I have been trying since then to have someone return to finish the job but no-one cares at Hardwood Giant. Nothing but excuses. Their 100% satisfaction guaranteed and warranty mean absolutely nothing. If you are foolish enough to have their so-called professionals install your flooring/stairs at least ensure that you retain at least 10% of the price until you are absolutely certain that you are happy with their work. ***************, The stair installer has tried to reach out to you and left a message on your phone previous to this complaint. Perhaps you could check your messages I assure you we have the most qualified stair installation team in the entire city. Because of this they are highly sought after and booked for sometimes months in advance. You only had 2 small stain defect because the natural wood toe kick did not accept the stain equally due to the fact that wood is natural. I have discussed your repair 5 times with the installation crew. As late as last Thursday. 2 days before this complaint. Where it was discussed he had left a message and was waiting for a reply, that he had even kept all your halfwall measurements till this day. It's unfortunate that you would feel unsatisfied. ******* Giant is a joke. ***** the owner of the stores in Ottawa is very rude and unprofessional. I had been trying to get him to come and see the terrible job the installer did for a year. Sent many pictures, file a complaint with the BBB, wrote to head office. Finally ***** called after a year said he remembered my home and that we had a "crappy" subfloor. Funny thing is that when he came to take measurements, the flooring that was down was gone as we had removed it and he was able to see the subfloor and said the installer would put more screws. Two spots required levelling and we told the installer and he said not needed. Our floor squeaks where the low spot is, a corner of the board here and there is lifting, and one because of it lifting now has a chip in it. ***** said there was nothing with his product and I agreed but said it was the installer who did not do the job properly. We had a few issues with the installer which ***** was aware of it. At the end of our conversation he said you have a crappy subfloor and would not longer discuss or come by and said if we wanted to have any further discussions to contact his lawyer and hung up. How can you keep customers with an attitude like that. I sent another email to the head office just to let them know. I will never recommend this company. Now as a senior citizen, I am forced to seek out someone who can come and repair their work. Small Claims Court is an option and I am looking into it.Review from Ryan d

Over promised, under delivered. This would be a 0 star if that was even possible.We are happy with the floor and happy to finally be able to enjoy it (6 WEEKS LATER). We are not happy with the service, as it was terrible communication, abysmal organization of time and overall a bad experience. We would not recommend this company at all.***** (Owner) came by about 2 weeks before the installation date, and took exact measurements. He said the job "would take about 1/2 a day to at most a full day".The installers were able to pull up the old carpet without issue, and started to work on installing the Vinyl Laminate. Unfortunately, because they did not use a table saw or miter saw (both of which they brought and were in the garage to use), they chose to use an oscillating saw, they did not cut any straight lines. Most of the lines at the end were uneven and looked terrible. While using the saw inside, they managed to cover everything in dust, cut into other boards on the ground and had 0 straight lines. Some of the lines did not match up to the wall or railing sections, so they tried to jam pieces of cut parts into the gaps to have ``makeshift'' repairs. They also did not finish installing all the floors.Installers came in the afternoon with the proper tools and got working on the nosing. At this time, it was pointed out that they need to fix the ``makeshift'' ************. They "fixed" it by putting finishing glue in the spot and said, "you won't even notice it". I asked why they didn't replace the boards, they responded with "We don't have enough to replace and finish the rest"They did not have the correct stain for the nosing. Took them about 3 weeks to find the right stain for the nosing AND during this time, they found out they had the wrong size nosing AND the floor had to be redone in the area around the nosing.Reached out to ***** to discuss this installation, and he has refused to follow-up or respond. I have had an absolutely awful experience with this businesss location in Ottawa, and particularly with ***********All in all, this was a two-month process. Due to all the delays, I was delayed moving to my home. My fianc had to take multiple additional days of work to be around for everything and to move off-schedule. In addition, my price increased from my initial estimate of $3100 to $4500. I understand that my initial price was only an estimate, but I should have been told when it changed and agreed to the higher price. Instead I was blindsided when I went in to pay. It is very hard to justify paying this much when not only did I not know that it would be this much but I also had an awful experience.I filed a complaint at the location and ***** followed up with me twice. The first time, he was making excuses for why there was delays, such as an installer installer having caught COVID and then being let go when they returned due to drug use. As you can tell from the timeline I shared, this was never told to me at any point and doesnt even really hit into the timeline. If someone caught COVID, I would have been delayed at least 10 days, as per ******* law. I truly believe he is feeding me convenient excuses to make up for their lack of organization.Today he called me back again at my request. I told him that I would like to receive some sort of compensation for the experience I had and he jumped down my throat immediately. He was incredibly rude and I ultimately hung up as the conversation was not constructive. If you take a look online, as I wish I did before signing any contract, there are multiple complaints about *****. He does not represent your company well and should not be in a managerial role of any kind if he cannot conduct himself politely and calmly.I will be paying my balance as I do not want to have to speak to such a rude man ever again, but I will also be posting everything I have detailed here online.Review from Nermine A

Where do I begin? Like others on here, *************************** of the Nepean, Ottawa location, tried to get out of selling vinyl that I had laid a deposit for 3 months earlier. Basically, he got upset that I called him on not honouring his advertised price. Online the price was $2.89 sq ft and he upped it to $3.11 sq ft for shipping, then added another $0.20 per sq ft for delivery, then added $50 to slide my oven out of the way to lay down the flooring, then another $50 to slide out the fridge to do the flooring and the list goes on. When I asked why these additional fees did not come up during our numerous conversation over the three months, was that everyone does it. False price advertisement and unethical business man. Steer clear. Did I mention he wanted to cancel my order a few days before it was scheduled to be installed?
