My credit limit in Amex is showing 4492 and the total limit for the card is 5500 and my Statement balance is 1021.40 generated. If we deduct 5500-4492 = 1008. Amex is doing ***** and then they say your Credit limit didn't got refresh is that my concern. It should be refreshed at the same time and i have not used my card since last 2 days and *** * *** **** thankfully I calculated my stuff.

Amex has declined a payment of an airline ticket that I attempted with my Platinum card without informing why. When calling them to attempt to understand, I was told that they have a hidden limit for my card (that is not available for me to see anywhere from my account) and that they were unable to increase my limit or to create an exception for me to complete my purchase. That's pretty odd too - as I'm sure they've done a credit check on me to see that I have both an excellent score and have never missed a payment of anything in the almost 8 years I've been in Canada. I would have been happy to have paid before the end of the month - but since Amex never bothered to tell me that my hidden limit has been reached (my account info implies that all is well) - I planned to pay it when it was due. I also tried to pay my balance online to see if I could unblock myself - but Amex would only receive payment 3 days later. I ended up purchasing the ticket with another credit card - as it was a time sensitive purchase (both price & availability can change if I wait 3 days, and my wife had already made her purchase for the same flight). This means that I was ****** the opportunity of acquiring 2800 points, spending about 14% of the 10K needed in order to receive my welcome bonus points and having quality insurance for my trip. Additionally, I might have to make purchases that I have not planned for just to reach the minimum spend for my welcome bonus points. Having to do so due to poor communication, lack of transparency and disinterest in providing a decent customer experience ********* ****** * **** ***** ** *** *****. As a customer, I'm pretty disappointed with the ownership of a platinum card from Amex so far. For some reason, I expected more from American Express. Sending this message here both to provide feedback in case Amex is interested in improving, and perhaps see if there's anything that can be done about the 2800 points that I was prevented from receiving.

For pre-authorized payments, American Express withdrew the statement full amount, regardless of interim payments leading to Amex known updated full amount on payment due date - unlike other financial institutions such as ********** which recognized and withdrew the updated due amount only. For example, the statement full amount was $7000 due on Sep 21. The interim payment was $7000 prior to Sep 21. On Sep 20, Amex website updated to $0 known Balance Due. However on Sep 21, Amex withdrew the full statement $7000 as pre-authorized full payment, regardless of the known interim payment and known $0 Balance Due, leaving the account holder insufficient funds and accumulating interest fees and charges. Unacceptable bad practice from Amex.
