Shameful!!! They sold this **** to my MIL in 2020. She was NOT of sound mind and capable of making decisions like that at the time. When questioned about the money coming out of the bank she had no idea what it was. She passed away Jan 2023. The bank has been investigating where the money was going to and was unable to figure it out. We recieved a past due notice due to the bank account being closed and called to inquire and let them know that she has passed away. They didn't seem to comprehend that she was not of sound mind...meaning the contract was not legal from the start. They expected 2 years more of payments to be made out of the estate. The final resolution offered was to pay 500.00 today and they would close out the account. Now why in the world would they expect to be paid for service they obviously will not be giving someone. New appliances including a furnace were purchased for her because she had no idea she even had this supposed insurance nor did her power of attorney. These companies need to do better. She could barely carry a conversation in 2020 when they sold this to her. She spent most of the last 3 years in the hospital and not very coherent.

These people called my elderly, vulnerable 80 plus year old Mother In-law a year or 2 ago and pretended they were authorized by the government to give her an $80 carbon credit tha they said she must have heard about in the news. They switched her around to a couple of people and worked her over to tire her out. They forced her to give her bank account number for this government credit and then proceeded to debit it for 60$ roughly. When she called to stop this a couple of times, they have a woman answer the phone that pretends she is going to have them call back and they don't. She put a stop payment on them. Now she is getting letters from what looks like an affiliated company EDJE capital pretending she owes them thousands of dollars and threatening legal action. There is no contract, nothing in the mail and we are ignoring the letter of course. People need to tell the elderly and vulnerable people in their lives to immediately hang up on these companies. Hopefully this one will be shut down by authorities if it isn't already Thanks

I received a call concern. I gave them my info and they were to deposit $88 to my account and they would send out the info in the following week. I did not receive the $88 nor the paper work. I have since discovered that they have been taking $79.97 out of my account since May 2022. I did not agree to this so called home protection plan nor did I authorize the taking of any money from my account. I would just like them to refund my money including the $48 Nsf charge to my account. I hope some one can help me get restitution

    ********
I was called by (I guess) Ontario home protection, but they also gave me www.nationalhomecoverage.com. told me of $88.05 govt rebate coming either May 2 or 15, and repair for any appliance free for 2 weeks because of carbon credits (haven't you seen it in the news?) They gave me a reference #. There was talk of a 60 month charge of $69per month. I spent 30 min on phone saying i was **** scared as they tried and I refused to give my bank info for the credit, giving only partial info as they insisted it was their job to represent the govt. Hung up, but was called again and finally did so. I checked it out online too. Called my family, and then the bank who said we'll be watching for such activity. *************************************************************** *********** They gave me their name and employee # and phone#and I phoned and it's only an answering service and have no knowledge of national home service. Said they'd call me but no call.

    *************************************************************** **************************
I received a phone call saying we were eligible for a Carbon Tax Rebate "you must have seen on the news, everyone's getting one" of $88.05.
They also said we would have two weeks where we could get any appliance repaired at no charge.
IF WE WISHED....we could then pay a monthly fee of 59.95 ongoing to have this warranty ongoing. AT NO TIME DID I SIGN UP FOR THIS WARRANTY program and they assured me that I would have to contact them to have the warranty plan begin.
They asked for my banking information in order to DEPOSIT the 88.05. I even told them I was skeptical of giving banking info and one of the several people I spoke with got short with me, saying "we can't take any money out of your account without your permission", she was actually getting huffy with me.

I was told I would receive information explaining everything in the mail. This was two weeks ago and we have received nothing.

*************************************************************** ******************** I called the phone number back. Customer service agent assured me I was INDEED signed up for this 59.95 plan and it was a good thing I called when I did because it was within the "15 days" - at no time in my initial call did anyone tell me I had 15 days to cancel. As far as I was concerned I would receive the information, get my 88.05 rebate and then decide to sign up.
A couple of days later my bank was debited for 0.01 (one cent)from this company. I've made two calls to them about this debit despite me cancelling and was assured both times I would receive a call back from management. This has not happened. I now have to go to our bank today and set up a new bank account.

I'm so disappointed in this company but mostly in myself for falling for it!!
Feels good to leave a review though, so thank you BBB!

    *********************************

THEY TRIED TO CLAIM THAT MY SENIOR PARENT OWES THEM $4000 OF NON-PAYMENT. THIS WAS AFTER THEY COLD CALLED VULNERABLE PEOPLE AND GETTING THEM TO VERBALLY AGREE TO APPLIANCE WARRANTIES EVEN WHEN THE PERSON DOES NOT HAVE APPLIANCES LISTED IN THE WARRANT IN THE HOME. DO NOT GIVE YOUR VERBAL AGREEMENT OR YOUR BANKING INFO OVER THE PHONE!
    NO CONTRACT WAS MAILED.
THEY CLAIMED THAT THE CUSTOMER AGREED OVER THE PHONE AND THIS WAS LEGAL CONSENT. THEY ADMITTED THAT THEY ACQUIRED A LIST OF PEOPLE'S HOME PHONE NUMBERS AND COLD CALLED HOMES TO SELL WARRANTIES ON APPLIANCES AT $59.99 A MONTH. - LOCKED FOR 60 MONTHS!
THEY REQUESTED FOR BANKING INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE AND TARGETED VULNERABLE SENIORS

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND CONTACT THE GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO - CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT
