April 7, 2022 we had to cancel a trip to Jamaica as my daughter tested positive for COVID.We had *** ****** ********* ******** protection up to 3 days prior to departure.3 days prior we had tests done as per Jamaica regulation-our test results did not come back until following morning-our daughter tested positive and we had no choice but to cancel our trip.We could not get tested earlier than 3 days prior as per the requirements of Jamaica. We are out approximately $10,582 and have asked for a travel credit based on the fact that the turnaround time for the test results was out of our control.*** ****** and our credit card will not offer us compensation of any kind- AC states this occurred within the fine printed days and the credit card company is stating the event was preventable!! An e-mail from *** ****** states our travel agent should have sold us cancellation insurance over and above what we were offered. Once we received the e-mail from *** ******, we followed up with our travel agent. In the e-mail we sent to her, we included a copy and pasted paragraph that states she highly recommends the ******** coverage. She responded that she had a draft email of insurance quotes for over and above the coverage we had but did not send it and is sorry for that. When confronted with the above, she then said there was a phone call in which she offered a ******** form of insurance and it was declined. We were never offered another form of cancellation insurance but since she is stating it took place on the phone vs by email we have no way to prove *** ** *****. Throughout the last many weeks, we have been nothing but kind and reasonable-we have stated time and time again we are asking for a travel credit only. The company owner was contacted in hopes for some reasonable resolution. After no follow-up, I reached out and he now states their records (no dates, time, etc) show the travel agent offered us insurance, we declined and there is nothing to be done on their part.
