    I had an extended warranty on my Lexus 2021 RX 350 Executive. The vehicle was stolen in the parking lot of **** *** in Orleans suburb of Ottawa. The vehicle was totaled. I asked for refund of my extended warranty from Lexus/Toyota. It only refunded me $977.72 with an explanation that extended warranty started in February of 2022. Lexus had basic warranty of four years going up 2025. Then an extended warranty would kick in. My SUV had only 6,903 KM. Lexus/Toyota did its own calculation without giving how the reimbursed amount was arrived at..

    I placed a $1000 deposit on a Prius Prime. At the time, I asked my salesperson whether the deposit is refundable. He said they are not legally required to give the deposit back but because there is an enormous waiting list and they can find another buyer with one phone call, they will return my deposit if I change my mind as long as I haven’t ordered any extras such as rustproofing and as long as the licensing hasn’t started, etc. I ran into some money problems and didn’t think I will be able to afford a new car after all. When I called to ask about refunding my deposit, however, the salesperson told me they won’t refund my deposit unless they fail to deliver the car within the time estimate specified on my purchase agreement. Unfortunately, my original salesperson left, the one who told me I could get my deposit refunded if I change my mind, so the new salesperson is steadfastly refusing to honour his predecessor’s promise even though he acknowledged that they can easily sell the car with no effort. So, it’s nothing more than a dealership cash grab, which is disappointing given *** **** Toyota’s reputation for integrity.
