The management company owner has been dismissive of my concerns. We have had many nasty email exchanges where she lies to me and tries to gaslight me. Yesterday she said I'm no longer allowed to contact her. Only my husband is allowed. Which by the way they only take his complaints seriously. Since I am the one at home usually, this does not work for us. There are also many problems with this unit that are dangerous. Including fire hazards and meth contamination. She refuses to do a test for it. I complained about the old neighbors doing drugs in their apt and the odor coming into ours. She went over to their apt to inspect and said there was no drugs just **** paint and car parts. I'm tired of dealing with someone so disrespectful.

    Business response

    11/10/2024

I appreciate the opportunity to clarify our management practices and my commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all tenants. I have submitted the full record of all email communications to this response for clarity. As well as photos.

Regarding the concerns mentioned, I have consistently addressed each issue brought forward in a timely and professional manner. Ive encouraged open, respectful communication and have consistently responded to all concerns, including sending notices, conducting inspections, and ensuring the units safety. This tenant simply does not like me and is trying to hurt my reputation.
          1.   Communication and Professionalism: I strive to maintain a courteous and constructive dialogue with all tenants. In this case, our conversations became increasingly difficult due to the tone and language used by the tenant. After many requests for non-hostile or accusatory remarks, to ensure effective communication,I requested that her husband, who has been courteous and constructive, act as the main point of contact. She may, of course, still communicate directly with our office in writing and she can submit maintenance requests directly on her tenant portal.
          2.   Professional Integrity: I take pride in my professionalism and transparency, as I have done for over 12 years in this business. At no point have I lied to or attempted to gaslight this tenant, as claimed. Such accusations are disheartening and do not reflect my commitment to fair, honest, and respectful interactions with all tenants.
          3.   Safety Concerns and Inspections: Safety is a priority for us. When concerns were raised about potential hazards, we promptly responded. We addressed an electrical breaker issue within her unit, and it was resolved by a licensed and insured electrician. When she mentioned a chemical odor (her words at first) coming from the neighbors she "suspected' they were doing Methamphetamines. I immediately posted a notice for inspection of the neighbors unit the next day. When I inspected the neighboring apartment I observed no illegal substances or strange behaviors of these tenants, but did note the presence of an entire car engine sitting in the living room which I am attaching a photo of, and engine cleaner spray they were using inside the premises. These boys were mechanics. While there is no substantiated evidence of methamphetamine use, we responded to her concerns by conducting a full inspection, as is our policy when any safety concerns are raised. These tenants have since moved out.
          4.   Methamphetamine Testing: Based on the inspection results and the absence of evidence, I do not see a valid reason for methamphetamine testing, which would entail significant costs. As management,we rely on evidence before moving forward with such specialized testing. I would be happy to look further into this and have the unit tested if the complainant agrees to cover the full cost of the testing if it comes back negative which I am certain it will.
          5.   Lease Termination: The tenant recently requested an early lease termination, which was denied due to seasonal constraints. However, I informed her that a release could be possible in the spring. I also believe this is one of the reasons she is so angry with me.

I value each tenants well-being and am committed to maintaining a safe, respectful environment. I will continue to work with this tenant within these boundaries, and I am open to resolving any additional concerns constructively.

    Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:

I wanted to be let out of the lease because the people that were living next door were making/consuming and probably selling drugs. They had traffic coming in all day and night. We kept smelling burning plastic coming from the gaps in the walls. We asked they test the unit and it was refused so we asked to break the lease. We were never given the option to pay for testing ourselves.

I was literally waking up sick every morning. I had to go to the er with symptoms of being intoxicated. The neighbors themselves were very friendly and would tell us the things they were up to and their life situations. There was plenty of evidence that would warrant further investigation.

I also find it curious that they have since moved out. It's on parole with all the lying and gaslighting they try to do.

I have literally spoken to neighbors about issues and they have ******* they were having the same issues both with their building and with Keri ******* herself. Whe confronted with issues she says we are the only people that have a problem with it when I know for a fact others have also complained. I will not be bullied by this woman. I didn't ask to break lease out of nowhere. There are HUHE issues with this place even with the crackheads next door gone.

    Sincerely,

    ********* *******
