I had a accident about 6 weeks ago, the person was insured by Safeway Insurance. I'm convinced the company is running a scam. They fail to return any calls to inquire about the claim status even after I have left several messages at different days and times. Still no reply, how does a company run an they dont make or receive phone calls? They are very unprofessional and its unacceptable really.Business response

The driver at the time of the accident was unlicensed and there is no coverage for this accident.
A letter was mailed and emailed to ************ on July 26.

on September 3 2023, i had a minor car accident where i immediately contacted the insurance company.(been a customer with them since 2009) I chose my auto body and paint shop and began the process of getting the car repaired and in the mist that he found additional damages and had to do a supplement add on and when the repairer received the additional funds (November of 2023) to purchase the parts, my car automatically stop in the middle of the highway on November 23,2023 and i had to have it towed to *****'s auto repair shop. There they found other additional damages to the car caused by the same accident. *****'s repair shop requested for an insurance adjuster to come out but no one ever came from November 2023 to January 2024.... so ***** auto repair shop then contacted valley collision because their estimate came to totaling the vehicle but wanted a second opinion. On January 7,2024 valley collision requested an adjuster from the insurance company to come and they send came.. On January 17,2024 the estimate totaled my car. I tried contacting the insurance company 2 to 3 time a week for months to check on the status on my car but no one never reached out, in April i was told by an attorney get the estimate my self and email them to let them know that i knew my car was consider a total lost, once i sent the email the insurance company immediately response to me with a phone call stating they refuse to send any additional funds until the repairs that they had paid for was fixed. This work has been completed and now my car has gone back to *****'s auto repair and we have been requesting for a insurance adjuster to come back out to do the new estimate and now they want respond at all to me or *****'s auto repair. the finance company is trying to repo my car and if they get it then the insurance company want pay it off. can you please help me settle this matter? i have my claim # *******-AL-83373871.Business response

This accident happened on September 3, 2023. The customer struck a pole in a parking lot. There was damage to the front bumper and fender. Safeway wrote an estimate and paid this claim. At the time of Safeway's estimate, the car's mileage was 154,522. The repairs were supposed have been completed at ********** Paint and Body, the customer's choice of shop. On March 6, 2024, six months after the accident, Safeway received an estimate from Valley Collision. The mileage on Valley's estimate was 164,982. Valley's estimate called for replace of the same parts Safeway had already paid for. Valley's estimate also called for the engine /transmission assembly. This would not have been damaged in this accident. Furthermore, if the transmission and/or engine was damaged in the accident, it is unlikely the customer would have been able to drive the vehicle another ****** miles before it broke down.
Safeway does not owe for the replacement of parts it already paid for. Safeway does not owe for the engine/transmission assembly. No further payment will be made.

Was rear ended on May 7, 2024 by a Safeway insurance holder.Filed claim on May 16, 2024 as soon as the accident report was available. Was told, and have the text, that someone will get in touch before the end of the next business day.That never happened, I sent an email, no response.After multiple calls and being constantly redirected to their automated line over and over, I finally got an office number. Got voicemail, left my info, and still nothing. I have been without a vehicle, which was my primary source of revenue, for almost three weeks, and have yet to hear a peep from anyone at Safeway.They make it virtually impossible to get in touch with a real person, and when you do they immediately redirect to the automated system in what is a viscous circle designed to delay and/or make someone give up IMO.Ive never dealt with such an unprofessional insurance company in my life.Business response

Safeway's insured sold the vehicle prior to the accident and wa snot operating the vehicle at the time of the accident. The operator did not have a policy with Safeway. There is no coverage for this accident.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
However, the business could have notified me of this the next day instead of ignoring multiple emails and phone calls for over a month forcing me to turn to the BBB. This could have been handled by a simple phone call.

My sister was in the hospital. And she was not going to be out for 2 to 3 months and I needed to cut her insurance off and they wouldn't let me. They even talk to her over the phone and still said just let it run out itself. Safeway Insurance Company of Alabama insured a car that I was involved in an accident with recently. The minor child of the insured was at fault in the accident and Safeway Insurance refuses to make whole the victims of the accident claiming the minor who lives with the insured parent was not a covered driver under the parents insurance policy when legal president clearly states that Safeway Insurance of Alabama is liable.Initial Complaint

. I have reached out to my adjuster, ***** ******, multiple times by phone and email and have been unsuccessful in reaching her or receiving a response back. I was also connected with ***** **** and ***** ******* through the operator, left voicemails, but still haven't heard back from them. It seems as if outreach by email and phone leads to a blackhole, which is extremely frustrating when it comes to reconciling a vehicle accident. Furthermore, I wouldn't have the questions I have if the adjuster was diligent in explaining the investigation process upfront, but that did not happen. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with.Business response

The driver was not listed on the policy and appears to be a non-covered person under the policy. Safeway has requested additional information from the driver. If there is no response in the next week, Safeway will proceed accordingly, which likely result in a denial of coverage.
