Two weekends in a row my mother’s carbon monoxide alarms went off her new home. The fire department responded and told her that she had issues with the levels of carbon monoxide in her home that she has lived in since March 2022. The fire chief told her that the alarms were not up to code and that they had to be all the same product. The builder told us different. He is not fixing major issues in the house, covering the warranty. He is telling my 70 year old widowed mother that she needs to contact the electricians and the plumbers to get it fixed instead of him doing so. There are also broken light fixtures and the main bathroom in the master constantly leaks water onto the floor in the bathroom. This shower is not sealed properly and I am concerned that there is water that is leaking under the flooring and could potentially be forming mold. My mother has asthma and COPD. He had now had three doctor visits and I believe it is from potential mold. The builder did come out and try to bandaid the water issue, but it is not fixed. I am not only worried about her breathing and health, but I am also worried about her slipping and falling in the bathroom with water constantly leaking out onto the floor. The plumber did come out yesterday afternoon and he is supposed to return this morning to re-vent the entire hot water heater and also put in a combustion vent by the water heater. The plumber was very nice and apologetic when I spoke with him. He told me that this was the first that he was hearing of the issue, and that he was never notified the first time that the alarms went off or he would have fixed it. I don’t feel that the builder, Tim Gulledge, was going to do anything until I told him that I had reached out to the BBB and the Alabama Home Builders Association. I am trying to take care of my widowed 70 year old mother by filing this complaint.
