    In early November 2023 I got an estimate from Coastal Outdoor Fence and Deck for a cedar wood fence for almost $10,000. *********************, the owner, was so quick to take my money up front, he wanted it paid even before getting HOA approval for the project. He charged me a 60% deposit on Nov 9th, but then everything he did after that was soooooo incredibly slow. He is a dishonest man, promises things and then goes back on his word frequently. He does nothing proactive, no follow through at all which resulted in delay after delay after delay. When he sensed a bit of frustration from me after repeated delays, he threatened to cancel my project and give my wood to someone else if I wasnt happy with his process. Most people would be hugely annoyed at this point, but after all this time, I still hoped to get this project started. But then Sunday night right before our start date, he delayed it yet again so I had no choice but to cancel the whole project now. This was on Dec 18th. Now it is taking so ridiculously long to get my deposit back, it is Feb 28, 2024, still no refund! He told me to open a dispute with my bank back in December because he had no intention of refunding me anytime soon. The dispute dragged everything out and then in February he said if I want the refund, I need to cancel the dispute. So I canceled the dispute and he promised to refund me directly as soon as the dispute was canceled. The dispute has been canceled for almost 3 weeks now and he promised he would pay me back on Friday Feb 23rd. It is now Feb 28th and I have still seen no refund. He owes me $5966.40 and I am praying you guys can help me get this refund back without delaying the process further like a bank dispute causes. I need it back immediately, ** getting laid off and I desperately need this money back that is legally mine, not his.

    Things didnt go exactly as planned with this project which happens in construction. We did take a 60% deposit which didnt even cover the cost of the special order cedar material. So yes agreed to cancel and refund full deposit and Ill eat the restocking fee. Issued a refund thru invoice provider which takes 4/7 business days. In the mean time the customer filed a dispute with credit card so that really delayed the process. It took longer than we hoped but shes getting her full deposit back.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    Merchant had numerous delays due to lack of follow through, then he threatened to cancel my project and give my wood to someone else. Thats why project was canceled. Dispute with credit card company did not cause any delays because merchant could have paid me back at any time to resolve the issue. As of March 13, 2024, he still owes me $2000 which is 1/3 of my deposit so nothing has been resolved yet.

    ****************** has been paid her full deposit back. We didnt charge her in restocking fees for the special order material. I apologize for the delays and regret not being able to work with her as this is not issues we commonly have.
