I received a bill dated December 4, 2024, in the amount of $80 from this establishment stating that they had sent three statements by mail. This was the first statement I had received. This was for a surgery I had back in July. My insurance covered everything for my surgery aside from my copay and I got preauthorization stating they would pay. When I contacted my insurance company about this bill, they sent me an email stating that this provider submitted multiple DUPLICATE bills to them so some were denied due to them being duplicate charges. This is a very unethical business practice and I should owe this company nothing! Please clear this charge since my insurance company has already paid you for your services.

    Dispute Resolution Counselor:

The complainant states that she received only one statement for $80 from Huntsville Anesthesiology Consultants for a surgery that was performed in July 2024.  The complainant states that when she contacted her insurance company, they told her they paid for her surgery except for her copay portion.

The complainant had surgery July 11, 2024.  The bill for her anesthesia services, includes the services for the Anesthesiologist and the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, was issued to her insurance carrier on July 18, 2024.  The insurance carrier paid for the services on August 1, 2024, except for her COPAY portion, which they clearly mark as the copay portion.  The copay is $40 for each provider, for a total of $80.

There have been four statements that were generated and sent to her address of:

    *******************
    Huntsville, Al 35805

The dates of the statements sent:

    09/05/2024
    10/11/2024
    11/07/2024
    12/09/2024

The complainant signed a financial agreement with the understanding she will be responsible for allowable costs that her insurance deems her responsible for per her policy benefits.
She also signed an anesthesia consent with the understanding that she will be under the care of an Anesthesiologist and CRNA.
The outstanding amount of $80, is the $40 copay for the Anesthesiologist and the $40 copay for the ********************************************************* times we do have customers that do not understand their statements.  When that happens, most customers call us for an explanation of their invoice.  In this case, we did not receive any call for clarification, just a letter from the Better Business Bureau.  This is the only complaint we have received in 10 years from the Better Business Bureau.

I hope this clarification is sufficient.

    Thank you.

I submitted my response by accident before I was finished entering my response. The statement that I had not called their office is untrue. I called to ask that they resubmit any denied charges because my insurance stated that they covered this portion of my surgery in full. See attached photo. The lady was rude and told me that they did not resubmit insurance claims. Furthermore, there should be only one copay not two for a single service. The claim that this establishment has not had a claim in 10 years except for mine is demeaning and I understand why they have not had a claim. I had to have this company added to the BBB in order to file my claim. Many people may not realize that you can add a company if they are not listed. I tried to go back and edit my response but it wouldn't allow me to add this reply. If you could add it, I would appreciate that.

Attached are payments from **** for the care provided by both the anesthesiologist and CRNA which shows their payment, and that the Ms. *** is responsible for her copay(s) $40 each for a total of $80.

I am rejecting this response because: This is not the reason my insurance company is citing the balance. They are stating that they received a duplicate claim. I will pay this establishment and file an appeal with ********** Blue Shield of Florida.

    Sincerely,
