Here's what happened. Last year I bought a lot of domain names on namesilo, and this year I found that my domain names were automatically renewed. When I bought them last year, the platform's purchase interface did not prompt for automatic renewal. I didn't know it was turned on by default, so many domain names were renewed without my knowledge. On July 5, I checked the deduction records and found that a lot of money was deducted. I immediately contacted the platform for a refund and asked for a refund of the deductions for automatic renewal. I wanted it to refund the amount for the unused months, but the platform's service attitude was not good and was unwilling to help solve the problem.

    Hi,

we are truly sorry to hear that your recent experience with our service did not meet your expectations. Although we have 3-days of cancellation policy, yet we still issued a refund for your renewal transactions that made more than 3 days since the transaction. Although given a lot of exception for your case, you are still not satisfied and keep blaming us.

Unfortunately, no more exception can be offered beyond the steps that already taken.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

I can't accept it. On the third day, which was July 5, I had already refunded the money in the system. It was less than three days at that time, otherwise I couldn't cancel it. But because the system cannot cancel more products, I told the customer service that I wanted to cancel the order because I couldn't log in to my email, and the customer service agreed to refund it at that time. And after I canceled the order, you charged me a large handling fee, saying that it was a handling fee deducted from my credit card when I paid. This is more than the handling fee mentioned before. I don't believe it was deducted from the credit card, and there is no evidence to prove it. The orders from January 2024 to June 2024 were also automatically renewed without my knowledge, and I want a refund. I think it's the platform's fault. They misled me to renew the product, and the payment was a mistake.

    Business response

    08/01/2024

    Hi,

fyi, we have made an exception by issuing refund for July order even though that was more than 3 days (the autorenewal was made on July 1st, but you just contacted us on July 5th) but of course January to June order was not possible to be refunded anymore.

In regards to handling fee, we have also notified you that the 0.60 USD fee covers processing and transaction fees associated with each product ordered and the payment method used. This fee is not
    refundable.

I was charged for auto-renewal. I didn't know about the auto-renewal and didn't get any reminders. I just want a refund. Please refund me. This was a mistake.I don't know why auto-renewal is on by default. This is a scam and I want compensation. I want you to compensate me for the auto-renewal charges from January to June.

    Hi,

Upon checking we found that the site is not even loading from our end and it is listed as secure by Virustotal.

Please note, we are only a domain name registrar and as such we cannot remove, validate or control content posted on the site. Content on web sites falls under the purview of the host, not upon the domain name registrar. You will need to contact the host of the website who has control over this or the registrant of the domain directly to resolve this matter.

    To find out who's hosting the website, we'd recommend using a tool like this:  *************************************;

To contact the domain registrant, you just need to check our *****. Even if the owner has turned on ***** privacy, you can still contact them through ***** info. To do this, pls go here:  ************************************************ enter the domain name; in the results page, look for Registrant e-mail to contact.  If you see our info on the ***** page this means that the owner has turned on ***** privacy. You can still contact them through the registrant email address that is listed in the results as it'll be forwarded along to the registrant's personal email.

Everyone having the same problem, SUBMIT A REGISTRAR COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS COMPANY: ****************************************** Namesilo did not remove a domain that was proven to be used for phishing, and allowed it to continue, impersonating our company. Their phishing abuse form doesn't work. When I tried emailing them, they just had an auto-responder. We filed a complaint with ICANN, as their abuse reporting system is basically non-functional, and they say all problems are not their problem. The problem is, it is your problem. We're looking into filing a lawsuit under the **** (Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act), and we suggest you do the same. If there are enough people, a class action may be possible.

    Hi,

We cannot verify any phishing on the email, this appears to be a case of SPAM. Unfortunately, as the domain name registrar, we don't have any control over the content of e-mails as they are not using our email service.  You will need to contact the host of the email (we'd recommend using a tool like this to find the host: **********************) or the registrant directly: Spam/UCE:

As noted above, we do not allow anybody to send SPAM email using our system. Therefore, if yours is a spam/UCE issue, please direct your complaint to the email network/provider(s) used to deliver the email. It is too easy to spoof domain names or otherwise incorrectly implicate a domain name related to spam/UCE for us to investigate complaints.

The people using a domain you provided them are doing illegal phishing/scam activity. You know this from the attached documents and continue to let it happen, despite multiple complaints from myself. Apparently, you let this happen on a normal basis per other BBB complaints. Like I said, this is all being forwarded to our legal team.We gave you the easy way to resolve this, but you picked the difficult way.

Unfortunately, as the domain name registrar, we don't have any control over the content of e-mails as they are not using our email service and hence, we are unable to take action to the email.

If it is related to the domain, we may able to take action on it if they used the domain to involve in scam/ phishing activity.

    Hope this clarifies you.

A domain was registered with NameSilo by a bad actor attempting to scam payment from customers. The domain was very similiar in nature our domain with only a minor difference. Emails were then sent to users pretending to be our company seeking payment via direct deposit stating that my company was no longer able to accept mail payments. When were made aware of the issue, we checked the domain name and found that it had been registered on 24 hours before at NameSilo and we immediately completed an abuse report on their site. Over a week later, we have yet to hear anything despite repeated attempts to contact them and ask about the case. It seems they are not interested in fighting and deterring fraudulent internet activity which is a shame.

I appreciate the explanation, but my complaint is that you failed to respond to my multiple requests on your site. It was only when I filed a complaint against you on BBB that you decided to respond. If you are only a registrar and take no responsibility, then why have a form on your site to report Abuse with selections in regard to Domain Violations and SPAM? Why also do you have a contact us form on the site where you will not respond to requests, of which, multiple were made. Therefore, I do not accept your resolution to my complaint as it is about your ability to respond to legitimate complaints through your website of which, I have still yet to receive a response. If the only way you will respond to consumers is by filing a complaint through the BBB, then I suggest providing a link to the BBB on your website instead of a Contact Us form.

Namesilo is the registrar for websites that are used by scammers to install malware onto victim's machines. I repeatedly report to the host - and then namesilo if the host doesn't take action and get the same cut and past 'not our problem' email although they have taken sites down in the past. When a host refuses to take action, the registrar is the next line of defense, and no other registrar that I've worked with in the last 2 years has refused to take action. These are ALL malware - ALL ignored by the hosts (******** out of ******* and Contabo out of *******) - ALL reported multiple times to the host - and to Namesilo many with VODs of the actual scam attempts using them. These need to be disabled, this CAN be done by a registrar, it's done everyday by other registrars.control.ctrl901.org control.ctrl901.org drto.info mkpks.info mtwk.info pdworld.live pnsys.info rmus.pro rtgs.info smgs.us

I am well aware of who hosts these sites, and have contacted them multiple times.

You ARE the registrar and can take action.  Other registrars do it on a daily basis for malicious domains.

I only turn to the registrar in cases like this when contacts with the hosts reach a dead-end and they refuse to deal with the domain.

Billions of dollars are lost each year in the US alone from these types of scams.  These sites are a key tool in their arsenal of tools to pull those off.  Disabling them is a small part of fighting these scams, but an important part.

I have been reporting sites of this nature for 2 years.  I've been in contact with the REAL company that produces the legitimate version of this software.  This is NOT legitimate software, they use old cracked versions and should be considered malware.  If you check, I believe they have contacted you as well.

In many of these cases I even provided VODs that were recorded live during scam attempts, I'm not sure what more 'proof' could possibly be required.

These are criminals, preying primarily on elderly victims.  If the host will not take action - the registrar is the next step in the line of defense.

Please take action and disable these domains.
