The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On December 9, 2022, CPI Inc entered into a Assurance of Discontinuance with the Arizona Attorney General. The Assurance of Discontinuance settles allegations that the business used unlawful practices and misrepresentations during the advertising and sale of dogs. Under terms of the Assurance of Discontinuance, the business agreed to: Clearly identify the sources of the animals it places for sale, accurately display the name and USDA-licensing status of the breeders and brokers from whom it has obtained an animal for sale, Not offering dogs for sale that come from breeders or brokers that have been cited for violations of the USDA’s Animal Welfare Act if CPI advertises that it does not obtain dogs from such breeders or brokers, and Not releasing dogs to consumers that are known to have parasites without informing the consumer verbally and in writing and advising whether the dog requires further treatment. Furthermore the business was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $120,000.00.
This action is final.
