I called Desert Spine as a possible new patient. I discussed chronic problems with my neck and getting injections in my neck. I gave my insurance info over the phone. I had an organ transplant in 2024 and several surgeries to have met my insurance deductible. I was told everything looked good with insurance and everything would be covered. I scheduled an appointment for 9-10-2024. I met with Dr **** for less than ************************************************************************************ the lower spine, I told Dr **** that I said in initial phone call it was my upper neck that was hurt. Thought the office just wasted my day and time. A month later I received a bill for $595.00 out of pocket expense for office visit. Thinking this is a mistake, I called the office, and they said Dr **** coded our meeting as a appointment for *** and that was not covered by my insurance. I have gone back and forth with the office about how TMJ was barely discussed, and I came there for neck and spine help and they coded as TMJ. They have no answer and will not alter code. Also, I went to another neck specialist after this meeting and testing found severe nerve damage in 3 vertebrae in my neck, I let the Desert Spine office know this was confirmed through testing, but they disregarded that info. My insurance said this could be recoded to my neck, what we had discussed in office and why I went there was for neck support and neck injections, the office disagreed and made egregious accusations of my intentions for clarity. I offered a 3-way call with ***************** for clarity, but the office manager would not. This is fraud and bait and switch billing for max charges. This is a predatory practice of coding bills by not what patient is coming into office for but will maximize out of pocket expense for a person they say they cannot help. Other reviews show this behavior of billing and feel this company is misleading and misbilling new clients.
