In July 2021, United Contracting signed an agreement with me to repair hailstorm damage to my home. The agreed payment was the amount of the appraisal by my insurance company. That sum was signed over to United Contracting in a check from the insurance. The work on my house was much delayed and completed June 15th, 2022, barely within the 1-year parameters set by the insurance claim. One exception was left incomplete. During replacement of a broken window, the subcontractor removed a metal roll-shutter (all the windows on the house have this type of shutter). The new window could not accommodate the original shutter. The subcontractor never returned to remedy the missing shutter. A local shutter company came twice to measure for a replacement, but apparently no shutter was ever ordered. In spite of many email contacts in which there were assurances that UC would special-order a replacement, United Contracting never made good on this. United Contracting has cut off communications, refusing to answer my emails. I continue to hold them responsible for the errors of the subcontractor, and for completing the contracted work in its entirety.Business response

To Whom It May ********************** at United Contracting Group stand by our work at all times, and we make every effort to correct our failings. We would like nothing more than to install the shutter at ***************** property. After a lengthy fabrication process due to material delays, the shutter has been awaiting install for 3 weeks now. However, we have yet to receive payment on our last invoice to *************, which was over 30-days past due at the time. We are already at a significant loss on the project, and cannot invest more money into her home, until she fulfills her financial obligation. In a previous email we made it clear that we would only require payment on the completed items, and we would await payment on the shutter until installation was complete. No payment has been made.
Additionally, in spite of the complaint and our response, we have never been specifically contracted, nor required, to replace the shutter in question. We agreed to do it as a courtesy to a client, and we reserve the right to withdraw from this item and seek collection of the remaining balance.Initial Complaint

Early this year, ***********************, an agent of United Contracting Group, came to our home, advising that they were repairing roofs in our neighborhood due to storm damage and offering to take drone photos of our roof. I agreed and he showed me that several tiles were missing. He said that they would provide an entire new roof from insurance proceeds minus deductible. I expressed concern that our insurance rates would rise, and ***** advised (in writing) that as this was an Act of God, that would not happen. We filed a claim, the damage was found to be within the deductible; we filed an appeal and it was denied. Then the insurance company opted not to renew our policy, forcing us to find a new policy at much greater expense. Our auto insurance also will go up as the policies are no longer bundled. ***** promised to get me documents to take further action, then instead sent a contract for a third-party appraiser. I sent him an email asking a number of questions, to which he did not respond. When I attempted to print out our contract, I found that United had "cancelled" it on August 3 following my email and I can no longer access the contract. I have pertinent communications on emails, which I have attempted to attach. United's practices were deceptive and we relied on their representations to our economic detriment. We still have a damaged roof. Thank you for the important service you provide to the community and for considering this complaint.Business response

In response to the complaint filed by ***********************, we would first like to express our sympathies for all of the troubles experienced by the ****** family. It is never our intention to disrupt the lives of our clients, nor do we desire to cause the kind of hardship described by *************** in his complaint. We do not have any control over the actions of any insurance company, and although we do perform roofing restorations within the budget of our client's insurance proceeds, we can only do so when said insurance claim is approved, and such a decision is entirely outside of our control. We can only advocate for our clients, and present facts to substantiate their claim.
Ordinarily, industry standards for insurance claims of this nature prevent an insurance company from imposing sanctions on their clients when the damage is caused by an, "Act of God". For this reason, ******************* insurance company should have provided some measure of justification for their decision not to renew his policy, and if we are responsible for their decision, we would very much like to know how, so that we might rectify the situation and prevent such an occurrence from happening in the future. Additionally, we do not understand how any such claim would justify increased rates for a corresponding auto insurance policy, but we would argue that such an increase is not associated with the aforementioned claim, unless a statement to the contrary has been provided by the complainant's insurance carrier. Once again, we have no control over the decision of any insurance company, and these unusual circumstances have not occurred to any of our other clients, which is why we are at a loss for how to make the situation better for ****************Initial Complaint

March 10, 2022 United Contracting Group Complaint On July 11th, ********************************************* our ********, ** area which did extensive damage to our home. On July 12th, ************************* with United Contracting Group showed up at our door to let us know the full damage done to our House Roof, Garage Doors, Rain Gutters, Screens, Deck Rails and inside Solar Tubes, etc. We contracted him and his group to manage all repairs and replacements, 8 months later as of this date March 10th, 2022 the jobs are not complete and some bills have not been paid by them. Our Garage doors still are not replaced and the Solar tube company has not been paid for the replacements. We are continually receiving unpaid bills from vendors who worked on our storm damaged home. We have numerous times called ***************** and his manager ******************* and if lucky sometimes we were able to reach them by phone, vendors have also tried to reach them and they choose not respond to any of us. **** said more than once that he would take care of this but doesnt and well, **** stated to us that He is out of the loop and he is supposed to be Coles boss man? Good grief, what do we do?We have turned over all of the insurance money to them that we received from American Family, $42,032.00 plus for the damages. **** and **** both stated that these vendors could not be canceled by us as they have already been paid, but no payment has been made to them by this United Contracting Group. So they are using our money and not completing the damage repairs to our home. It is highly frustrating and very time consuming for us as clients to have to deal with this ourselves as we hired and paid these contractors to do this for us.We have been trying ourselves to communicate with A1 and ****** Garage doors and get no response and no action from them as well. We are doing **** and ***** job for them ... meanwhile they just ignore us and this unbelievable situation that we face.Business response

We have been waiting 9 months for United Contracting group to resolve this problem and they are STILL ignoring the issue with excuses and not getting our doors replaced. They have had the use of our insurance money signed over to them for 9 months and this issue is still not resolved.
