An appointment for an APPS paramedic was scheduled on 6/12/2024 for 0700 on 6/19/2024. The paramedic attempted to confirm the appointment with me the night prior, once at 1900 and again at 2053. Those hours are late, and I did not see the messages. I confirmed at 0630 on 6/19/2024. The paramedic (Perla) had already canceled my appointment. I want the business to understand that canceling and rescheduling scheduled appointments with late-hour confirmations is not a good practice.

Spoke with the independent contractor and the complainant today. This issue is the examiner "no showed" the client. The client had responded 1/2 prior to the appointment to confirm the appointment. the examiner had already scheduled a replacement appointment. The examiners are independent contractors and get paid for only completed work. Insurance companies do not pay for no shows. The examiner had sent text messages at 1900 and 2053hrs the night before. She apparently also called and left voice message. I explained the area examiners have had a great deal of no shows and rely on the clients to respond to confirmation requests. This is the first complaint for my office in 20 yrs. All the examiners in that area have full time jobs and complete the work before, during lunch after work and weekends. Also spoke with the person that ordered the work and addressed the situation. Better communication by both parties should be addressed. This examiner completes the majority of the cases in Yuma County and has not had a complaint to this point. I did apologize to the complainant and explained the importance for the confirmation in a timely manner if possible.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 21871383, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

    Regards,

    Riley France
