The nature of my dispute with this company is a breach of contract. I have had many issues since I requested a termination of my project and a refund of the product I purchased, but I will discuss the main issue here. I originally hired Alpha Book writers (ABW) in July'23, with the plan of helping me promote my book. The original service was for marketing ($1,000) for a 3-month plan. This went relatively well. A marketing member contacted me shortly after the start of the service agreement, saying that ABW wanted to represent my book at 2 book events to obtain sales for my title. I agreed. After these events were over, I was told by the marketing manager that my book gained royalties & was picked up for a contract with a UK book retailer. Supposedly, the retailer was requesting *****K copies of my book to sell in their stores, which I would receive royalties for but would have to pay upfront printing costs ($5,000 paid on Sept 8th, 2023). I signed a proposal on September 18th *********************** the following months, I was told that my book was showing good sales but when I requested a report to show me the numbers, it was ALWAYS delayed. I did receive a report for my distribution deal on January 10th, 2023, and when I noticed discrepancies, I questioned my project managers. The report also didn't look professional or itemized. Again, there were extreme delays in having my concerns addressed. I also discovered that ABW did NOT have a contract with the retailer (verified by a representative of the ********* ***** was selling my book at bookstores I didn't authorize nor have knowledge about, creating a breach of contract. I requested to terminate my relationship with the company on Feb 28th, 2024. Since my termination, ABW has continuously given me pushback on my royalty ***************** of the products I'm owed, claiming terms I never agreed to. They have refunded only $400 of the $5K I paid, & when I try to coordinate further, I'm met with silence.

I got contacted by this company around Christmas in order to work on my book that I'm planning on launching this year. At first everything went fine, they even created a really nice cover for me. The problem began when they were supposed to work on the editing of my book. Not only did they force me to accept all of their changes in grammar but they also began sending me unedited copies and playing stupid with me. Acting like they had edited my work when they hadn't done it. As I was not up to playing games I called them out on their ********. I was then told by the company that I needed to pay extra for them to continue editing my work even though initially they had offered me a discounted price for their work. I got so fed up that I asked for a refund and they said that they would give me the refund only on the basis that I'd send them back the difference. I told them no because it would have gone through my credit card so I was afraid that they would have taken a lot more money from the card than what we had agreed upon. Besides, they were requesting that I let them have a fortune for the work that at that point they had already done. Honestly, they barely did anything for me. They also threatened to copyright my work under their name if I didn't allow them to have the money that they believed they had compensation for. This is why I'm now complaining about them. I will not allow these people to steal my work.
