On June 5th, 2023 I tried too purchase a item, not realizing the price had gone up. Was $5.00 now $5.50. I had $5.04 in my account. Before the transaction on the key pad showed it had gone through the clerk pulled the power cable from card reader. I then received a message alert from my bank of a charge from the 89 cents plus store for $5.04 and the money was removed from my account. The store clerk then tried too get me to run my card again for another $5.50. when I explained that the charge had gone through for $5.04 he told me no it did not. I left without the merchandise. I contacted my bank and explained the situation, 24hrs later they told me I had too contact the merchant too receive my money back. I showed the clerk the charge on my bank app they refused too believe it, and refused too give me my money back. I again contacted my bank who has verified the charge went through, but is also refusing too help. This store, 89 cents plus store stole $5.04 from me knowingly, and believes they've gotten away with it, please help me!

    Hello,

One June 5th, 2023 Mr. ***** came into our business to purchase an item which previously cost $5.00. The price has since increased to $5.50 which my clerk explained this to Mr. *****. He then proceeded to continue with purchasing this item. When my clerk entered in the amount into the credit card machine and Mr. ***** inserted his card, the machine then glitched and froze. My clerk then unplugged the machine to try to reboot the system and retry the transaction. My clerk stated that they were not aware of any charges made to the card as there was no receipt that was printed during the transaction. They tried to explain this to Mr. ***** and assured him that we can refund him if he shows us his statements. In an instance that happened to our business before with a previous customer, the customer was issued a refund a few days later from the credit card machine company. So that is what we expected could happen in this case. When Mr. ***** returned to show the statement with the $5.04 charge the clerk working tried to explain to him that he could have a refund issued to him in the upcoming few days and if there is not a refund we will be more than happy to refund the $5.04 that was mistakenly charged during the original encounter. We are not trying to take anyones money or have any bad customer service. We would like to resolve this manner and believe it is all miscommunication. We look forward to hearing back from the Better Business Bureau and Mr. ***** in order to resolve this manner in a timely manner. If Mr. ***** would like to reach out to us or is willing to stop by our business, our management can speak with him regarding this manner and look to see how we can help him. We want to keep a working customer relationship with him. If there are any questions or concerns please contact us.

    Thank you,

    89 Cent Plus Store
