I hired services of Go-direct Fumigation" on February 9, 2022. My house WAS BURGLARIZED the second night of the fumigation service. I found the front door of my house open the early morning of Friday February 11. The attached police investigation report established that none of the windows nor front door had been forced. Everything seemed to indicate that thieves had used the front door to get access to the house. It seems obvious that some of the fumigation workers did not close or locked the door. Go-direct fumigation requested the house keys to start working on Wednesday with the promise that all doors would be locked before the inspection. The most expensive stolen items were a new electric bike and binoculars. Mr. **** ****** refused to reimburse the cost of stolen items (approx. ******* and denied any responsibility by Go-Direct Fumigation.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/27) */ Contact Name and Title: ************* Contact Phone:************* Contact Email: *************************************** This was sent to the owner as an email: Hello Sir It is with great sadness that I must respond that I will not be able to help you with your claim of $***** dollars. The reason that we provide mobile alarms is so that you would be warned in case of a break-in. The alarm system worked properly, you were contacted, and police notified. The investigator saw no point of entry because in his estimation a window was the point of ingress. There is no proof of that but there is no proof that it wasn't the case either. I understand that you see the front door open in a picture or video, but you only see it open after the incident and not before the incident. In other words, the is no corroborating evidence that the door was left open during the fumigation. The video you sent me I see a sliding door is also open while the thief was lurking around. I can only imagine that it was opened during the time of the robbery because the thief was looking for a way out. Again, that's an assumption as well because there is no lengthy video or still frames taken before the crime was committed. I have great empathy and sympathy for what you went through, but we weren't the culprits and had nothing to do with your misfortune. I am eager to help in any way, as I have mentioned before to you and the inspector, we are willing to talk to anyone and everyone about what we do during a fumigation and the steps that must be taken to secure the structure for a fumigation. But we all know that locks are to keep the honest people honest, if a thief wants in, they get in no matter what. Again, looking forward to further discussion if you so wish. Sincerely ******* The police report states that the investigators arrived four days after the incident at 9pm. The report states in several areas "UNK" unknown, entry UNK, point of exit UNK method UNK, its in the report! What a coincidence that the fumigation cost was $200 dollars more that what was stolen. If this wasn't an inside job, I can sympathize with Mr. Fernando but we are NOT negligent in our actions or methods used in fumigation. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/05/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Liability by Go-direct fumigation (GDF): According to the contract, GDF workers are responsible for locking doors and I was not allowed to get into my property after handing the keys to workers. I discovered the open front door immediately after the burglary. The fumigation tent was tightly attached to the whole the house not allowing any possibility for reaching other doors or windows besides the front door. The investigator report states that no doors or windows had been forced. Therefore, the only logical explanation is that either someone had keys to open the front door or that workers did not lock the door as stipulated by contract. Therefore, the attitude of ********** to assert that GDF has no responsibility is unprofessional and negligent. ********** put my home and personal belongings at risk as a result of his failure to exercise reasonable standard of care, being criminally negligent and liable for the incident. I strongly request that Better Business Bureau takes action to ensure that GDF rectifies procedures to guarantee customer safety and satisfaction. The requested reimbursement is the minimal that I can value with a price as there were additional material and emotional losses. The most hurtful aspect of the incident is the psychological damage and threat that the security of my home was violated by the careless procedures followed by **********'s business. Additional Negligence: I spoke with ********** right after the incident and he just denied any responsibility without any effort to get assurance from his workers about following proper protocols in locking doors, etc. My name and telephone were registered to an alarm company without providing any instructions about procedures, and without reporting to police. Police warned me about the illegality and potential prosecution for requesting police notification without prior registering with police (fees required).
