    On the 29th of May, 2024, I went to the ** of Fountain Valley Regional. I specifically requested an itemized bill on the spot, and when the bill came in the mail, I never got the itemized bill. About 3 weeks later, I called about it again, and got redirected several times to multiple departments and had the call dropped on me. In another few weeks, I made another attempt to get an itemized bill. This is July 31st now. The same thing happened in the span of 2 hours. I was redirected and had the call dropped again. The billing department said they weren't able to send me an itemized bill and sent me around to different numbers where people kept deflecting responsibility. Finally I call the hospital again and the operator said they'd send me to 2 people who could help me, and these two people didn't pick up. I left a message and never got a call back, but had to call the hospital again. A different operator picks up and rudely tells me that the hospital can't itemize my bill, only my healthcare provider can. How is my healthcare provider supposed to know the breakdown for my hospital bill? What items were used? What treatment I got? Only the hospital would know.Another few weeks later, I try again. It's August 26th now. This time, the billing department actually said they'll mail me an itemized bill. I receive it in the mail a few days later. It's merely a health claim form. I call Blue Shield to square some things out. A ***** *. helps me figure out some details, and we do a conference call with the billing department to see what's going on with the itemized bill. A ******** ******* tells us that the health claim form that was sent IS the itemized bill. In what world is a health claim form the same as an itemized bill?The way the hospital dodged giving me an itemized bill for over 3 months is ludicrous, and serves as proof of a profit-driven, exploitative, and commercialized healthcare system.
