They were hired by Santa Barbara sheriff's department to inbound my vehicle for an alleged duo. I was told when they returned to the yard my motorcycle was dropped. Without contact or consent from the owner the motorcycle was disassembled. They had little to no explanation to the indent and acted like it is something that just kinda happens. They began to try and make me feel better by telling me that they will repair the damages. Well I sure hope so. Meanwhile I am without transportation or a rental. Now my motorcycle is not at the body shop painting it. They seem to have had a third party business that has no security storing my vehicle.

Smitty's incorrectly towed my son's car from The Tahitian Apartments in Isla Vista, CA on 1/3/23. When he called to get his car back they said they would not bring it back and did not have a driver available at that time in the morning. No note was left, he had no idea where his car was. I called to see what we could do, as we live 4 hours away. Calista in customer service was extremely unprofessional. She hung up on me and when I questioned her about returning the car to my son. I called back & she laughed at me when I told her my name was Karen. I told her that my 20 year old son was in the dark waiting for his car and she said, "Then I suggest he go back into his apartment!". She also said had no one to call to get authorization until the office opened at 7am and that he was responsible for getting himself to Smitty's. After many back and forth calls with The Tahitian manager Claudia, and with Ventura Rental Properties, we were informed that it was indeed the fault of Smitty’s for wrongfully towing my son’s car. Per their contract with The Tahitian, they must first get verbal approval from the main office before towing off the property, and the office does not open until after 8am. If this simple guideline had been followed, the problem would have been avoided. All the driver had to do was follow the contract guidelines, and at the least, look at the parking permit that was on the car to realize my son’s car was indeed in the correct space at the Tahitian. Due to the wrongful action of Smitty's, my son was over 6 hours late to a leadership conference in Orange County I emailed the owner of Smitty's to seek a resolution, but have not heard back. We are seeking: $200 - cost of conference - non-refundable, Cost of the Uber ride to Smitty’s - $10 Cost of gas getting back to my son’s apartment $10. We were not charged for the towing, but are owed compensation for the mess they created by not following protocol. Smitty's never contacted me to rectify the situation.

They tried to get me to sign a form that basically ensured that they weren’t liable for damages on my car, after the fact they had damaged my car (completely scraped my OEM carbon fiber front splitter bottoming the car out while lowering it) while my car was on the tow truck. I find this very fraudulent, and am absolutely shocked that I was even asked that question. I was then charged an additional $140 for them to bring another tow truck in and get my car off the initial truck without damaging it even further, because the initial guy didn’t know how to tow a lower AWD car without causing damage. So I ended up paying a whole lot extra, for the companies mistake, and ended up with a damaged car. Wish I trusted my gut instinct and told the tower to just go home after watching him initially struggle with my car.

Your complaint was already taken in the office and a manager is trying to reach. The forms you were asked to sign are the basic forms required by the State of California. We respectfully request you remove your complaint and allow us to remedy the situation.
