Hired a contractor to install two security doors and a motorized metal gate for my front driveway. Contractor has abandoned the job without completion after being paid $6300. He is still owed $300 but has left the gate non-operational exposed welds missing paint And mismatch paint that is not uniform to line site. The scope of work was to install two custom fully operational fully painted security doors at my front and back door. Also Install a rolling gate in front of my driveway that is completely painted and fully operational with a solar powered motorized opener. The contractor ************************* from extreme welding and fabrication, started the install and has not completed and has abandoned the job due to subpar workmanship that has been pointed out to him that he chooses not to correct.

The job was not abandoned or left unfinished by any means at all. I specifically took the time to educate her on how to use the gate opener. When I finished explaining all details to her and she understood how it worked.. she then proceeded to offer to pay me the balance due on the work performed.
It was agreed upon between us that I would return Monday morning to finish a couple extras she wanted ..( screen on here gate at the bottom and adhesive foam strips on security doors). Once everything had been settled. Plans made. ****** then asked me to go inside her home so she could render final payment ( less ****** for expenses on Monday when i returned). She asked me to help her write out a check for  $3000 as she cant write proficiently due to injuries on her hand.
I helped her write the check and she signed it herself.
When I returned home on Friday around 4 pm. I then received text messages from her son- in -law that were very threatening in nature. Told me that my work was subpar . And that he was going to take the reins on this job.. you work for me now. After about an hour of back and forth messages. He was very aggressive in nature. Told me I was a hack and did not know what I was doing.
Threatened to expose pictures of my so called s***** work via social media and other avenues. I then informed him that if any or all of the happens.. I would file charges on him for harassment and defamation of character.
Once the conversation with him was over a nothing good was going to come out of it.. I then messaged ****** via text and told her I would not be returning to her home on Monday for follow up work because I was unsure how hostile the work environment would be with both her and her son-in- law ******.

Now in regards to the quality of work i performed. The finish product was all completed to uniform standard codes in wrought iron field. The gate was built specifically for her opening. A track was placed on the ground over existing  cracked and damaged concrete. ( we discussed all options to repair prior to signing contract for gates and security doors) I gave ****** a couple different options to remedy the problem.. she  chose to run the track across the concrete in its current condition.  I dont do concrete repair.
The process of install a big powder coated gate requires that it be built in two pieces and welded together in the field.. which them requires minimal touch up paint.
The photos that ****** and ****** have provided are of the areas welding was done to install and connect the gate. Apparently it is not an exact match to the same color black. I never checked it before I left.. the material on the gate was upwards of 150 degrees plus.. as it was in the sun once I got done installing the operator.
The paint could have bubbles in it from that.
This is a very easy remedy to one fix the paint..and also make sure ****** is happy about the end result. I am more than willing to work with her on a remedy for this situation.. and do the extras I had promised on Monday however I will not go into a hostile environment or entertain working for her son-in - law ******. He has no part in the contract to do the work. And therefore I wont answer to him.
I take pride in every job I do to ensure it is done to the best of my abilities and meets the customers wants and needs.

Here are some finish picture of the gate and security doors.
