They told my mom that she needed a new engine and said it was a mystery, that it had to be a factory issue since her car only has 80k miles on it. So I had the car towed to the dealership to have it inspected and they told me that a good mechanic should have caught the issue of intermixed engine oil and coolant, as it is a serious problem indicating a potential failure in the engine, usually a blown head gasket, and requires immediate attention to prevent further damage to the engine; a mechanic should check for this during routine inspections and fluid level checks. When I asked the how they might redeem the situation, they had the audacity to say that people always want to pass responsibility onto someone else. The father and son behave quite arrogantly. I would definitely not recommend this shop. If your mechanic misses a problem where your engine oil and coolant were mixing, leading to the need for a new engine, it most likely means a failed head gasket, which is a serious issue that allows the two fluids to intermingle and can severely damage your engine if not addressed promptly; this is a situation where you have grounds to pursue a claim against the mechanic for not properly diagnosing the issue.
