5/3/2022 I purchased a Pentair pool heater and I was told the price was going to be **** plus *** for labor and tax. After it was installed the bill became ******** On line if you purchase the heater or at******** *********** the price of the Pentair ********** Matertemp heater is ******* plus tax and installation is ******* i paid ****** ******* which was the retail price of pool plus installation. They complained and said that the equipment was heavy and therefore the price. I would like for them to accept the retail price that everyone else pays plus the installation which I sent a check for and not demand twice the retail price of the heater.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/29) */ The price was set for the repair and she ok'd the amount before I even started the job. I never said the equipment was heavy and therefore a higher price. Her price was quoted before the work was started and she said ok. It was only after she under paid the bill that she complained about the price. She is trying to defraud me of the amount agreed upon. The work was finished and done in a timely fashion and she then proceeded to pay us only what she thought she should. The cost at other stores has no bearing on this matter. Business Response /* (-10, 6, 2022/07/29) */ Business supplied email************************** Use this address for any contact with the Better Business Bureau Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/08/08) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The price changed from the original quote when it was billed to 6617.80 invoice *****. It was significantly more than the original verbal quote. As I did not receive any paperwork with the heater or guarantee and I wanted to receive a rebate from the gas company. He had limited information just that it was a Pentair 250 heater. I needed that information for my records for warranty purposes and for a rebate. If you spend that much money for new equipment and you are not given any kind of paperwork it makes it difficult to do business. Not sure that was because it was a used heater or he is disorganized. At that point I checked the price online of the heater which was 2700 approximately plus tax and installation. I wrote a note with a check for 2700 plus tax and installation of 850.00 which is 350 more than he originally quoted. This is the retail price of the heater. I received a call from ***** on6/27/22 at 11:18 am on voicemail that he had already given me a discount of a few hundred dollars and the heater was not the size of a postage stamp. I also received at the same time an invoice ***** for 378.74 for pool pump timer with I did not authorize the purchase of. I asked ***** if he had an extra screw because I tried to change the setting on the timer and lost the screw. I could have asked my regular poolman but because he was here I asked him. Instead I received a bill for 378.50 for a new timer which I did not order or authorize or was even told that he would install a new one or told the price before he installed it. I did pay for this invoice ***** which I did not authorize. The retail price for a timer is 55.00 so he charged me 300 to install and 78.74 for timer which I did not ask for or was notified that he would replace it. His prices are out of this world and at his whim. It probably took him half an hour to install the timer if that and for that i got a 300 bill which i did not authorize. My regular pool man was not there so I chose to ask ***** for the replacement screw. My poolman had previously replaced the screw and he would have just replaced the screw not replaced the entire timer. This is uncalled for both in the attitude and the charge. This is the way ***** is. I value his experience but I feel that it is difficult to work in this way. It always seems that it is my fault when really he needs to take responsibility in the way he conducts his business. I paid the retail price of the heater plus tax and installation and refuse to be overcharged at twice the retail cost of the heater. I paid for the pool pump timer which I did not ask for nor was I advised that I would get a new one or told the cost. This is unacceptable. He originally told me the price of heater installation was 500 then it became 850 and heater was 4800 then it became 5267 once invoiced plus tax. I can appreciate ***** has a great deal of experience. He grossly overcharged me and i paid the retail price of heater 2700 plus 350 more than his original quote for installation. I feel he is being grossly unfair. I feel this is offer is fair. and am not willing to be grossly order charged. I am woman and when most contractors come to work here think they can take advantage because of the neighborhood that I live in and because I am a woman. I have paid the fair amount since his price changed i feel it was fair resolution and he did not notify me of cost of timer. It is a clear example of trying to take advantage of the situation and thinking that woman that live in high end neighborhoods can pay whatever is asked.
