Dental Assisting Institute is an absolute scam. The cost of the program is OUTRAGEOUS for the lack of education I received. I passed the course but unfortunately was not able to find employment with the amount of knowledge this institute provided. I found out I was pregnant after starting this program and let the instructors know right away, which they had stated on the syllabus. They required a doctors note, which I provided them. Part of the program required the use of x-ray machinery, which I had to opt out of with the advice of my doctor. The institute lacked proper protection to not only myself, but the other pregnant student in the program. Due to my unexpected pregnancy and not being able to finish the Radiation part of the course, I do not understand why I am being charged for the part of the course I was not able to finish. I have spoke with the program coordinators on several different occasions in attempt to cancel my recurring payments, but theyve unfortunately been no help. I have spoken to the third party company, iCare, as well whom told me I could cancel my payments with Dental Assisting Institute. The institute will not allow me to cancel my payments. I would appreciate, with the help of the Better Business Bureau, to not only have my payments canceled, but as well as a full refund of the entire cost of the program, although I AM willing to negotiate as I am fearful my credit will be negatively impacted. Dental Assisting Institute definitely did not come near to meeting my expectations and has actually caused me great stress and regret.

    Business response

Emileigh completed our 12 week program which is approved by the ********** Bureau for ******************************* and the Dental Board of ******************** ********** statute, pregnant students are not allowed to take x-rays during training.  Emileigh was present for and completed the total/conmplete classroom and laboratory portions of the program with the sole exception being actually taking x-rays.   Emileigh was made aware that she was welcome to return and complete those clinical exercises after she had her baby.  Emileigh sought third party/outside financing for her education and has a contract with another company for that loan.  We have no ability to modify that contract.   The ***************** for ******************************* has clear guidelines regarding student refunds.  In this case, Emileigh completed over 95% of the program and no refund is due.  She has received all her certificates with the only exception being the Radiation Safety Certificate.  Emileigh is still welcome to schedule time to complete the clinical x-ray exercises and receive her Radiation Safety Certificate at that time.

    Sincerely,

    **************************, DDS, MS

    Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: I have already spoken to the third party source about canceling my payments and they told me Dental Assisting Institute in fact DOES have the power to suppress them. Dental Assisting Institute is a scam that is worried only about making money and keeping a good reputation. Before receiving their certificate, students were required to show proof of leaving a 5 Star review. I did not officially submit my review, but when asked to show proof I pretended to, otherwise I would not have been able to leave. I want to add on the fact that the syllabus states that any pregnant students have the option to withdrawal from the program (with a refund of the full program amount aside from the cost of textbooks), but when I informed the instructors about my pregnancy, I was not given that option. If given the chance, I would have withdrew from the program at that time. Since I had no choice but to continue with the program, I did withdraw from the x-ray course with a doctors note (with personal preference, not with guidance from the instructors), but that was not the only material I was lacking. Dental Assisting Institute does not provide enough education to obtain a career in the dental industry. The instructors are barely knowledgeable of the material they are teaching. In Mr. ******* response he stated, By ********** Statute, pregnant students are not allowed to take x-rays training. Dental Assistant Institute did not follow this, as for there was another pregnant woman in the class that DID complete the x-ray course. With all this being said, I am rejecting this response.
