*** ****** at IBA Builders defrauded me, took my money, did horrible work, and abandoned the job after receiving 90% of payments while only completing 50% of the work. IBA builders is in breach of contract and I am currently in process of filing legal action against this company. *** showed up day 1 in his ************* (no contractor license on vehicle) to my home promising me everything I wanted to get done and in (10) days. The contract I signed that he created stated payments would be made 30%, 30%, 30%, 10% for a total of $15,000 to repave the entry of my home. This company subcontracted the work to illegal aliens, incompetent people with no formal licensing or contractors license at all - not legal labor - no one spoke English at all. *** was not present to direct the his hired labor. The first week went by relatively smoothly (demolition work) . Then, I started being aggressively hounded for payments by his office staff (*****). The workers continued but now at a slower pace with less care. I now have damage to plants surrounding my home, trash thrown in the street not cleaned up, rubble and debris throw in my backyard not cleaned up, damage to sprinkler heads, damage to stucco, spray paint and concrete splattered on stuccoed walls and windows of my home... 1 more week passes (now on ***** days of work - when promised 10 originally) - I am now being demanded to pay installments 2 and 3 together as one lump sum despite still being on stage 2 of 4 of the job. Now that 90% of payments were received by *** the workers stopped showing up to the job site. At this point in time *** has only seen the job site twice in almost 3 weeks. I had to direct the laborers and even help them do their job. Job is not progressing, and now I am receiving threats from the company to make a final payment that is not owed yet. When I refuse *** began threatening and insulting me by text message. Company is not legitimate / Fraudulent. *** basically stole my money and left the job

As background, I had signed contract on June 27, 2022 by which I'd pay in four installments as the work progressed. Company agreed to replace a vanity with washer/dryer and build a shower in my bathroom. After ~5 hours of work over two weeks, I decided to cease work with the company due to their awful communication and shoddy work. (Subsequent contractors from whom I requested estimate LAUGHED at their work, which will need to be redone.) Rather than agree to provide refund, Company owner is now threatening to put a lien on my property and seek the remaining money due (again, for 5hrs of work). His behavior has been erratic, and he has yelled at me on the phone. In short, the ~5hours of work total performed in the past few weeks will need to be redone and will cost additional money to fix (impossible to put washer/dryer in area they demolished, according to other contractors; the stop valves on plumbing installed in wrong direction; shower border too high, and other issues). Other company red flags: requesting cashier's check made out to address that does not match business address; use of multiple phone numbers that cease to function after a few months (I'd initially consulted Company last year); demonstrating zero understanding for *********** permitting process and urging that the shower (with the faulty valves) be done without a permit; creating a false sense of urgency in all circumstances to drive business; demonstrating zero comprehension of advance notice of water shutoff; slow responses unless it's related to getting paid; failing to provide clear responses about plan for washer/dryer, etc.) Company owner has repeatedly asserted as a defense that he has been operating for over 15 years; but it's clear from the recent customer ******** reviews and my own atrocious experiences that something has gone seriously awry in the past few years. He wasted two weeks of my time and $4,650 and is now threatening me with legal action.
