On January 27, 2022, we paid *************************** (owner of Liberation Foods) $3,455.03 for catering services. On April 12, 2022, I emailed him asking for a refund as we no longer needed his services. After very inconsistent communication via email on ******' part, he agreed to refund us $3,109.53 (we offered to forfeit a 10% cancellation fee for the trouble, as we assumed we were dealing with a reputable business owner and felt like it was a kind gesture on our part to forfeit 10%. However, given what has transpired, we are no longer willing to forfeit this 10% and are seeking to be refunded the full $3,455.03). On May 24, 2022, ****** emailed me asking for my Venmo or Zelle, implying that he would be sending the money owed. After not receiving money and not hearing from him, I emailed him again on June 3rd to check in. He replied the same day stating "I'm running low on funds right now and waiting to get paid." On June 22nd I checked in with him again, and this time he replied saying, "Would you be open to receiving gift cards, from ****** or Amazon to help fill the gap?". I declined, to which he replied, "Ok, it will have to be in portions bc as I mentioned earlier this is a tough time w commodities and labor going up, and cash flow. What is your Venmo handle?". I responded back suggesting that we set up a payment plan timeline and have not received a response from him since. The last I heard from him was June 22. Today is now July 31.I reached out to ****** over three months ago (it will be four months on August 12) and have been under the impression, based on our correspondence, that he would be refunding us the amount owed but that has yet to happen. Instead, we've been dealing with inconsistent responses (sometimes taking multiple weeks) and excuses as to why he is taking so long to refund us. Now it's been radio silence despite reaching out to him multiple times since his last email on June 22.I am filing this dispute in an effort to be refunded $3,445.03.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this response is neither satisfactory nor unsatisfactory. In response to the businesss message, the only possible solution that would be deemed satisfactory would be to receive a refund for the full amount of $3,455.03.

    Sincerely,
