Worst customer support ever!!!!!!!! I purchased 5 pounds of jewelry but received 2.5 pounds instead. When I requested the return, I was denied because in their world, 5 pounds equals 2.5, and "the seller's photos match the description." Shouldn't it be the item I receive to match the description instead? They didn't even check the photos i sent where i pointed at the missing items. But the worst was the response I received from a supervisor where she talked about some odor issues. I may have encountered. Did she even read my claim? I tried to call customer support several times, but it is impossible to get hold of anyone.Review from Jesus C

Use ****, by pass this headache of a company. Sold an item, selling process went smooth. Sent the item with the *** label that was provided by Mercari. Item arrives to sellers wrong address and item get sent back to shipper. All standard procedures. Not an issue. The issue that comes is that instead of the item coming back to the shipper, the item goes back to Mercari HQ on the other side of the **** still not that bad of a problem. It ***** but I can deal with the mistake. The issue occurred when the item has been at there HQ for 30 days, while the buyers funds are held in limbo. Im in limbo for my items and Ive reached out to support about 13 times each time they close the ticket saying there facilities team is working on it. I tried to take matters into to my own hands by trying to intercept the package through *** but that was shut down since the label was bought with a Mercari account. *********************************************************************************** communication is fraud. As a small business owner myself I could only dare do something like this. I will never use this site to sell any items and I feel bad for the buyer who is out 300 dollars for a month. I know the address thing could of been handled. But ultimately there should of been procedures and check points to stop these things from even happening.Review from Sergio C

I am filing a formal complaint against Mercari, an online marketplace, for unfair business practices regarding my account. ******************** has banned my account while holding my remaining balance, which I am now unable to withdraw. Despite multiple attempts to seek clarification and resolution, I have received little to no support.After requesting to escalate my case to a supervisor, I received no response. Instead, Mercari asked me to verify my ID without clearly explaining the reason or the status of my funds. I am concerned about the lack of transparency in their decision-making process and the potential wrongful withholding of my money.Review from Christopher M

Mercari does not care for their sellers. They will let a buyer return anything no matter what. They don't follow their own policies. I sold an item brand new and the buyer requested a return. I replied to Mercari saying it was brand new and to look at the seal in the picture. They completely ignored me and told me I'm supposed to unwrap the seal and use it to see if it works, and then they tell me I can sell it for parts when I get it back. Who wants the open new stuff and try it out just to sell it for less money? And why should I sell it parts? I should be getting my money back according to their policy. I get it back with the seal all destroyed and a broken item. I complained to Mercari following one of their help section categories, that says if it's not in the same condition you sold it as, you will get your money back. They admit saying that it was brand new and they refuse to give me the money. They tell me that buyers are allowed to open something and send it back in a different condition, when their policies says otherwise.Review from meg c

I WOULD GIVE ZEEO STARS IF POSSIBLE.I bought pokemon new unopened pokemon cards as a gift. When we opened them, they were all obvious fakes. There were no code cards, they were the wrong texture and color, the borders of the cards were uneven and cut at angles, etc. Like bad fakes. The cards came in authentic packaging that i inspected upon arrival and I had no reason to believe they had been opened--they didn't look it at all. However because I rated the seller upon the packs arrival mercari refuses to refund me for what is an obvious scam. They told me to reach back out to the SCAMMER AND ASK FOR A REFUND FROM HIM.this policy allows scammers like this thrive.Review from A. N. E

Shipped (2) identical items in (2) separate orders to a buyer. When I say there were identical they were down to the ounce on the scale and box dimensions. Sent packages to the buyer via *****. One package comes back with an astronomical weight. I contact Mercari and they have me run circles contacting ***** to resolve this. ***** tells me Mercari has to handle it. Im being sent in circles. They are scamming sellers with shipping weights and basically taking their earnings and saying oh well! Horrible business!Review from Kathy F

Mercari is the worst online retailer I've ever dealt with. I received an item that doesn't work. It's a small keyboard that won't even turn on. Plus it was sent extremely dirty. This company is a scam. Do not purchase from them.Review from Nick S

HORRIBLE SITE DO NOT BUY FROM! I ordered an item and the seller provided the wrong description (said the item was 5mm when it was 4.5mm). I requested a return and they denied it saying "your request was denied due to "suspicious activity" and "we cannot process the return because a review has been left and we completed the order" I was never told what the "suspicious activity" was and I did NOT leave any sort of review. This is a company that does not protect the buyer even though you are forced to buy insurance for this. Once an issue is filed they block any access to your account so no comments or messages can be sent to the seller. Also the seller is able to purge any messages sent to him.The issue was an item was sent that was the wrong product. I told the seller and he said I had to get a return authorization from Mercari. I contacted Mercari with the issue. They promptly locked my account while they looked into the issue. They responded with it looks like it is exactly what you ordered.I responded with the part number sent to me and the part number that I actually ordered.They responded and said I was correct. And finally issued a mailing label. The time from the order initiated to resolution was almost three weeks. Who knows when Ill actually receive my refund.I would highly recommend not using this platform and use a reputable one that actually helps the customer such as ****Review from CG M

******** is a better buy and sell app in my opinion. There is too much hassle with Mercari. I could not even receive a shipping label for a person purchasing. I had to cancel an order and have the buyer purchase from me on poshmark instead so I could obtain a label for the sale. They (Mercari) also take two days to respond via email and not even with a live person, a bot just keeps repeating the same phrases over and over again. If you call you get a non English speaking person or monotone person who you can tell really LOVES his job and just basically repeats whatever monotone phrases you received in the email. They also limit what words you can use on the app so you dont really have freedom of speech. Kind of like a **** app. I would highly recommend poshmark over Mercari for buying and selling. There is also a bigger audience on posh so your items get noticed quickly and purchased.
