I joined the wine club several years ago. I have had 3 specific incidences with Penman Springs Winery which indicate that they have terrible business practices and consumers should be warned if they are allowed to continue with enrollment in their wine club. Incident #1: Shortly after enrolling in the wine club (estimated 2021), I received a charge to my credit card to the winery that I had not made. When I called the winery, they said that "a friend of mine" had come into the winery and purchased wine - apparently the winery felt it was acceptable to use my credit card on file for their purchase. This was no one I knew and Penman did not contact me to ask me to use the card. Incident #2: In April 2024, I both called and sent an email to cancel my wine club membership. Later in the month I received a charge on my credit card for my next wine club shipment. After additional emails, 2 phone messages and 1 phone call with B*** *********, I had my credit card charge reversed and believed my wine club membership was cancelled and credit card information removed. Incident#3: September 27, 2024 I received another charge for $119.69 from Penman Springs. I called the winery during their indicated business hours and left a message asking what the charge as for. I also followed up with an email to them. I have yet to hear a response. Anyone who joins their wine club is at high risk of having their credit card used for charges which are not their own. It is also apparent that the business practice of removing personal information from their records after a member has cancelled out of their club is non existent, thereby exposing the consumer to fraudulent credit card charges.
