    1 star

    10/11/2022

FAMILIES- DO NOT GO HERE!! DO NOT BRING KIDS! Even 1 star is being too generous when it comes to the unprofessionalism of ******** owner, ***************************. Imagine a grown man being over the top aggressive in trying to humiliate and threaten a 14-year-old boy because the 14-yr-old made a silly little f*** sound that wasn't even directed at the owner. That is the toxic, rigid and quickly escalating behavior of ******** owner, *************************** that several people were eyewitnesses to. ******** even went as far as threatening to call boys' school to tell the basketball coach to not ever let him play on the team. ******** also told boys friends present to not hang out with him because "he's a punk", he repeatedly pressed boy for his full name until boy broke down and then owner cruelly and abruptly canceled his membership. Owner acted as if this boy was running through the gym with a gun or doing something super horrible. When in reality as many eyewitnesses will confirm, the boy was simply standing up for himself in the face of an adult bully. It was as if ******** was out to destroy this kid's life because he knew the boy enjoyed playing basketball there and meeting up with his friends there. This gym was a huge part of his young life. This interaction has created a ton of emotional distress for this boy who now feels harassed and bullied by owner. I was told by various members in this community that this is an ongoing pattern with owner where he abuses his power when his ego is slighted in the least bit. I have never heard one positive thing about owner. To take something away that was beneficial for a kid all for a grown man's ego is absolutely disgusting and speaks volumes! I will make sure everyone I know that goes to this gym hears about how this owner treats our youth, if they don't already know. I found another review from 4 years ago were owner canceled a membership for a silly reason as well. Total abuse of his position and completely unnecessary.

    Customer Response

    10/17/2022

Also wanted to add that both parents of boy tried to contact the owner by email, phone and showing up in person yet owner, *************************** never responded. Only response was from manager, **** **** that had the audacity to tell boy's mom that sometimes they let members back in once they've had a sit down conversation but judging by the email mom sent (which was firm in her disgust of the situation) that it didn't look like they could have an "amicable discussion" and therefore manager only followed through with a pro-rated refund for the month per mom's request and wished the family good luck! LOL. I think it was supposed to be the other way around- An incident occurs, you call in parents, talk to everyone involved then IF THAT doesn't go well THEN you maybe cancel the membership. But you don't cancel it as a way to dominate a minor and control a situation unfairly and then turn around and blame it on the mom who did nothing but stick up for her son. Just the lack of response from owner shows how much he cares about his members. Many members have said they email him and he never writes back, only the manager does with similar responses he gives everyone that's dissatisfied - blames it on them and then wishes them and their family good luck. Their business model and customer service is a complete joke!
