In April 2024 I went to Summit college with interest in the *** program. I was told the start date for May was full and there was a waiting list for the August start date and part of the requirement was completion of a 3 day pre requisite course that will take place in August. It was explained to me that as long as I did well in the courses and finished all admissions that I would be able to start on the Aug 26th start date. Once the prerequisite courses started and application fee was taken from 43 students in the amount of $176 each, we were told there were only 27 seats in the class and all 43 students would not be admitted. While in the class I noticed the teacher knew most students by name already and some students have been through this class and seen the test from the previous session. Turns out these people were the overflow from the previous start session that didnt get in and were doing these classes for a second time and with a second admission fee I assume as well. At the end of the class I received over a 90% overall grade and was not admitted into the program however students with a lower score and this being their 2nd time in the classes were admitted instead. This school is taking an admission fee from students knowing they wont be admitted due to them already having people from the previous start date overflow paying a second round admission fee to get into the program. They are using these prerequisite requirement courses as a way to collect extra money on the false pretense of if you do good in the course, you will get in which is false. They are collecting thousands of dollars from people who from the beginning they have no intention on admitting into the program unless they come back and try a second time. When I called and spoke with the *** and the teacher of the class neither one had a valid reason as to why I was not admitted but instead someone with a lower score than me was. This is a scam and needs to be investigatedBusiness response

Better Business Bureau Complaint #********
Dear Sirs,Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns raised by *******************************, received by Summit College on August 28, 2022. Upon performing a thorough review of ************ claims, the following response is submitted to assist the BBB with its investigation. In viewing this response, please note that Summit College attempts to address any student concerns or grievances in keeping with our commitment to provide our students with a caring and nurturing learning environment that promotes academic excellence and fosters open communication at all levels of our institution.
As stated by ********************, the Vocational Nursing program at Summit College requires that prospective students attend a prerequisite class designed to provide attendees foundational nursing concepts, math, basic medical terminology, nursing skills, aspects of nursing professionalism and ethics. The prerequisite class is offered at no cost to attendees interested on enrolling in the Vocational Nursing program. Since its inception in 2018, the purpose is to offer a glimpse of the subjects that will be covered in the Vocational Nursing program, and to expose them to the rigors of the program and profession.
As the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians sets limits of enrollment, not all candidates who attend the prerequisite class matriculate into the actual nursing program. Although a candidates grades in the prerequisite class are important, as stated in the colleges Student Catalog, there are other factors considered for admission, including but not limited to attendance, attitude and professionalism. Candidates who are approved for enrollment into the Vocational Nursing program are then required to complete applicable documentation and pay a registration fee of $150 and those who are not, are informed by the **** of Nursing or her designee regarding their status. In the case of ********************, she was informed of the reasons she was not accepted into that particular class and there was no charge to her or any of the candidates who attended the prerequisite class and did not make it into the nursing program.
Summit College is appreciative of the opportunity to address this complaint and is hopeful that our response provides enough information for a suitable resolution. Should you have any questions or require further assistance regarding this response, please do not hesitate to contact me at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
*************************

The company has not sent in my application in order to schedule my nclex date and take my test. I have done what myself and Ms. ***** ******* have talked and emailed about and it has been over two weeks without any resolve. Not only have they not sent in my application but their is never a response when I email them with my issues and asking for any updates on my application. Included with this issue is also the institution charging for a CPR card and class that neither I or half of my classmates received. When this issue was brought up to the director of nursing Ms. Sheehan, the response was that they had lost the applications and we would have to figure it out on our own, we would not get reimbursed, and we would still have to show up to clinicals without proper CPR card.Business response

Better Business Bureau Case # ********
Dear BBB,
Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns raised by Mr. **** ******, received by Summit College on March 7th, 2022. Upon performing a thorough review of Mr. ******’ claims, the following response is submitted to assist the BBB with its investigation.
In viewing this response, please note that Summit College attempts to address any student concerns or grievances in keeping with our commitment to provide our students with a caring and nurturing learning environment that promotes academic excellence and fosters open communication at all levels of our institution.
As published in our Student Catalog, information regarding the licensing process is provided to all students enrolling in our Licensed Vocational Nursing Program, with reminders at various phases of the student cycle, especially during the final term of attendance, detailing the process as well as the resources available to guide students towards the goal of obtaining licensure; part of this process includes various reviews and workshops available on site and online featuring test taking strategies, study material, practice quizzes, and it requires passing predictor exams that assess a student’s readiness to successfully pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
With regards to communication with Mr. ******, our Director of Nursing and NCLEX staff have been in communication with him as recent as March 10th, 2022, via email, to discuss his progress within the review process. As part of this process, Summit College offers the services of Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) to evaluate a candidate’s readiness to sit for the NCLEX using tests of essential academic skills, culminating with a predictor test that when passed would give the student a green light, signifying a high probability of passing NCLEX. Mr. ****** was enrolled in ATI on October 17, 2021, to help him prepare for NCLEX at a cost in excess of $1000.00 to Summit College, with very little participation since then.
The following establishes a communication timeline with Mr. ****** and members of our staff, including the Director of Nursing (DON):
· January 10, 2022 – Verbal discussion with DON regarding Mr. ******’ agreeing to complete ATI to 100% and continuing to study and improve on ATI until NCLEX date is set.
· February 17, 2022 – Mr. ******’ message claiming to have completed all ATI modules.
· February 22, 2022 – Mr. ****** claiming to have completed all ATI modules and attaching a picture of a message from ATI instructor to corroborate it with a reply from DON stating the attachment is missing and asking him to resend the picture.
· February 25, 2022 – DON’s reply asking MR. ****** to send pictures of tests taken to determine his progress.
· March 1, 2022 – Mr. ****** attaching pictures of tests taken and reiterating agreement with DON to complete all modules to 100% to have application submitted.
· March 10, 2022 – DON replying to Mr. ****** with a Live Scan form attached which is required to submit a student’s application.
It is worth noting that Mr. ****** was asked to submit copies of his progress at various times to ensure successful progression through the licensure process. Included with this communication is a copy of Mr. ******’ progress on ATI through March 13th, 2022, illustrating he has not completed the course as he has indicated on two of his messages. In addition, his application could not be advanced without a completed Live Scan form, a service that Summit provides on-site through an outside vendor for our students as part of the licensure process. Mr. ****** was not in attendance on the date his cohort was scheduled to complete his application and Live Scan form, and consequently had to travel to the vendor’s facility to process it. The completed form was sent by the Live Scan provider on Sunday, March 13, 2022 and not received by our DON until Monday, March 14, 2022, consequently his application was not processed until Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
Regarding his claim for CPR, his cohort was provided with a CPR class in March 2020, and soon after documentation was submitted to the CPR card provider for issuance, however, this coincided with the start of the Covid-19 pandemic which could be reason his card did not reach its destination. Given how much time has elapsed, and considering that card would now be expired, Summit would like to offer Mr. ****** the opportunity to renew his card at no cost to him on the next available CPR training session.
Lastly, Summit College appreciates the opportunity to address this complaint and is hopeful that our response provides enough information towards a resolution to Mr. ******’ concern, and our commitment to assist him to successfully navigate his licensure process.
Sincerely,
**** ********

I requested a replacement of my original legal assistant certification (or even a copy) that I obtained and paid for at their Trade College back in 2007/2008. I also submitted an online request on their website months ago and paid for that as well. I have left countless phone calls with no response back. Mind you I paid for this request and am also currently still paying school loans on this. I understand they no longer offer this program, however when I attended they did and I did graduate and obtain that certificate, however I misplaced it and this have been requesting and paid for a replacement. I’d really like them to provide this to me as soon as possible and respond back.Business response
