I got notified by ****** that yet again my PERSONAL private information was on a website. This time Intelius/Zabasearch, without my consent, and puts me in danger because of an ongoing cyberstalker. And I've been the target of identity theft. And my info is already on the dark web because of scumbag hackers and websites like Intelius/Zaba that violate privacy.When I clicked the link, the phone number of ************** showed up, which has NEVER been my phone number. Much to my dismay, ALL OF MY previous addresses AND JOBS are linked to some woman named ****** ******** in ***************, *******. She is apparently 53. I am 66 and live in **********. That has NEVER been my name. And NOT my phone number.But the results page is MY JOB and RESIDENCE history! This is reckless and irresponsible to propagate information that is (a) without consent; and (b) inaccurate.DELETE ALL of my resume and residence history from this woman's page immediately!Business response

Intelius is a public records search engine that gathers and displays public records in a clear and informative report. Most memberships function on a subscription model, meaning they renew automatically until the user decides to cancel, as outlined during the registration process. Our billing terms are conspicuously explained on our registration page located at this link: *****************************************, and in our Terms of Use located at this link: ****************************************************;
On January 19, 2025, Ms. ******** emailed us stating she was charged for a service she didn't subscribe to. Our initial response informed her that we couldn't locate an account using the information she provided. We did not receive a response.
We located the account today using the information Ms. ******** provided to the BBB.
Under normal circumstances, when a user activates an account with **********************, they must provide an electronic signature authorizing Intelius to charge their card, including for the automatic renewal of their membership.
To ensure a thorough investigation of the account in question, ********************** requests that the billed recipient contact us first in the event of proclaimed fraud. Once we confirm this claim, we disable the account, cancel all memberships, and return the last charge to the original payment method.
We have cancelled and refunded this account back to the payment option used to enroll, and no further charges will be incurred. Additionally, we have disabled the account to prevent any further access.

Intelius.com has provided misinformation, misspelled my middle name, attached me to erroneous relatives and addresses and slandered my personal good name and reference of information with criminal and traffic violations that don't belong to me thus prohibiting my employment. I want it corrected, It provided false information. I am looking into the legal ramifications if not corrected.Business response

I have cancelled account not once but THREE TIME since 2023. I am sick and tired of being charged every month for service that is horrible as well as it was CANCELLED 3 TIMES! I have all bank statements of the taking monies from my account and over drafting my account by hitting the account repeatedly in a single day. It is sad and pathetic that a supposedly upstanding business will do this to people regardless their income etc.Business response

Consistent with applicable laws, all material terms, including billing details and automatic renewal terms, are clearly disclosed before submitting payment information, and each user is required to check a box separately agreeing to those terms before being charged. i am a disabled person and veteran with an elderly widowed mother in another state. Intelius is endangering my life and my health and her life my privacy and selling my information, including my telephone number AND MY LOCATION DATA listed above online for profit. in addition INTELIUS is lying and falsely claiming on their website that i have derogatory information or pictures online,. which I DO NOT, thus endangering my privacy and ruining my reputation and character. intelius lied and said they have removed my telephone number listed above from their website, over 4 months ago, but checking yesterday the number still says my name and "derogatory information" on their website. INtelius are evil dirty corprate liars that jeopardize my health and safety and identity and refuse to follow the law, and under criminal investigation for it!! INtelius is committing felonies and has been reported to the BBB, the Florida attorney general, the CA attorney general the *** and the ***** REMOVE MY **** information and stop your felony buying my phone location data and selling my information online. Intelius compiles publicly available data from various sources, including government entities, public databases, and commercial data providers. While we cannot remove specific records from public sources, we do offer the option to suppress an entire background report from our platform.
Based on Mr. *********** complaint, we have validated and processed the suppression of both his background report and phone number in accordance with his request and our policies. As of today, we have confirmed that this information has been successfully suppressed from Intelius.com and all other people-search platforms owned by PeopleConnect, including TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, and USSearch.
To ensure these updates are fully reflected, we recommend that Mr. ********** clear his browsers cache and cookies, as outdated search results may still be stored locally on his device. If he continues to see his information after doing so, we encourage him to contact our ************* Team at support@******************************, and we will promptly review and address any concerns.
Please note that while we have suppressed his information from our platforms, this does not remove it from third-party sources or public record databases outside of our control. Additionally, even after a background report is suppressed, an individuals name may still appear in registered *** offender lists or as a possible relative or associate in other individuals reports. These limitations are disclosed in our Terms of Use, which can be reviewed at ************************************************.

I purchased a monthly membership for background check services. They took my personal information on their website, charged my account, but then sent me a notice that there was an error and did not provide me with the information I paid for. Their ****** link did not function either. I had to contact my banks fraud department, block the charge, and cancel my bank card. My complaint is that if there was an error which prevented them from providing the service I sought, then they shouldnt have charged me.Business response

After reviewing Mr. ********** account, we have discovered that he was unable to use our services due to an unsuccessful payment attempt made on January 26, 2024. In order to use our services, there must be an active subscription, and since Mr. ********** payment did not go through, he was not able to obtain the information he was looking for.
Please have Mr. ******** reach out to his financial institution regarding why the payment was declined by his bank, as we cannot see that from our end. If he chooses to pursue our services, we would be more than pleased to assist him.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Intelius, a company I recently discovered is selling my personal information on their website without my knowledge or consent. I became aware of this issue through an alert from ******, which flagged that my personal details were being publicly listed by Intelius.I take my privacy very seriously and have never authorized Intelius or any related entity to collect, use, or sell my personal information. This action is a direct violation of my rights and raises significant concerns about the misuse of personal data.I kindly request that you assist me in ensuring the following actions are taken by Intelius:1. I found out that Intelius is selling my information without my knowledge or consent and I formally request to remove my data from Intelius and affiliated websites as the self-service suppression tool is not working. Also, I request to not sell the email or any other info I used to contact customer care team regarding this issue.I tried removing my information from Intelius through the suppression tool they direct to but it was impossible as the flow is broken. Per recommendation on screen, I contacted the customer care team and got reply:"Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, we were unable to validate your identity based on the information provided. Please provide full physical addresses that you may have used to help validate your identity. That information will only be used to process your request. Your request to remove your information from the Intelius website, will be applied to the *********** displayed on all people search sites owned by PeopleConnect including ***************, Intelius.com, ******************** and USSearch.com. "So now instead of removing my information, Intelius is asking for more data and already added more of my personal information to their website without my consent just because I have contacted their customer care team - I have never agreed to adding any of my data to their website in the first place and suppression tool kept telling me that my email would be used only for verification purpose and not for anything else which was clearly a lie.I formally request to remove all of my data from Intelius and affiliated websites and I do not consent to adding more of my personal information to Intelius or other PeopleConnect affiliated websites, including the email I have used to contact the customer care team. This usage of my data was never authorized by me, is unlawful and jeopardizes my safety.Profile IDs are in my email to customer care team but I can provide them to Intelius again if needed.Business response
