Had a brief intake call where I described a legal issue with my landlord and then was asked to pay $250 for an official consultation. Said I was happy to pay that as long as I wasnt just going to be told that I have no civil case - they assured me that there was a case there, even if they couldnt take it. Paid $250 for a consultation, and was told in said consultation only that I have no case. I was fraudulently charged $250.

All aspects of this customer's complaint are false, and the customer was issued a full refund already, prior to our even being notified there was a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau.  Therefore, we respectfully request that the BBB deem that there is no basis for the complaint and consider this matter resolved.

Our intake specialists never comment on whether a caller has a case or not.  In fact, our written communications with the complainant had clearly stated that our paid phone consultations are for a one-time call with an attorney for the caller to learn what the applicable laws are, what their rights are, and what options they may have for potentially resolving their matter on their own without legal representation.  This was communicated in writing to the complainant no less than twice and the complainant moved forward with the consultation anyway fully knowing the scope of the offered service.  Additionally, the customer was not seeking help with a repair issue as stated in their BBB complaint.  Our written records show that is not what the intake nor the one-time consultation call pertained to at all.  Further, on the day of the call, the customer was belligerent and made threats against the consultation attorney and our law firm.  Based on this, the attorney had no choice but to end the call.  Prior to ending the call, the attorney let the customer know that they would receive a full refund.  The attorney then immediately, that same day, days before this customer made their complaint to ********************, submitted a request to the firm's bookkeeper to issue a full refund, which was issued shortly thereafter.

There is no basis for this complaint.  Additionally, given the customer's highly inappropriate behavior on the consultation call and that he was issued a full refund before we were even notified of this BBB complaint, we believe that the BBB should find that we acted in good-faith to resolve this matter and that this matter should be closed as such without any detriment to our BBB rating. We also request that the BBB not make this false complaint available for public view.

Some consumers may elect to not publish the details of their complaints, some complaints may not meet BBB's standards for publication, or BBB may display a portion of complaints when a high volume is received for a particular business.
