On 3/11/2024, I scheduled an interpreter to provide services at an event held by SF Reproductive Justice. On 3/24/2024, the event was held from 12 PM - 2 PM. One of the two interpreters sent by **** was 30 minutes late. Interpreter 1 (who arrived on time) and Interpreter 2 (who arrived late) were unprofessional while at the event. They made fun of the speakers and rolled their eyes at the speakers and the chants. They used ASL signs that were not appropriate for the messaging of our event. Members of the ************** who arrived decided to leave early because they were offended. On 3/25/2024, I made a complaint via email and requested the bill. The owner called me and left a message. When I called her back, she said that the interpreters are certified. She said that they were chosen because of their position on reproductive justice. She said that BACA is a queer-owned, women-owned, Black-owned business and that we in the movement should work together.I told her that I understand but would have to take this to the other coalition members. On 4/2, I received a bill from BACA. On 4/6, I requested to place a hold on the bill because we wanted to dispute the charges. On 4/30, I emailed BACA a formal complaint letter and ***************************, the owner, replied that I had agreed to pay the bill both on the phone and in the signed agreement.I ultimately paid the charges in full myself (not SF ******************************* because I don't want it to affect my or my spouse's credit. I don't think we should have to pay the full amount and I definitely don't think I should have to pay the late fee (which I went ahead and paid to avoid further problems).
