    DO NOT USE this accounting firm. They hire inexperienced staff who may or may not be licensed. They failed to file my taxes correctly and cost me hundreds in penalties and interest. They refused to acknowledge their error and put the onus on me. Over ten years I watched this business go from great to disastrous. It is now extremely difficult to get an accountant on the phone. They don't bother to return messages, unless you call more than once. They also raise their fees 10% every year. OH! And they've been raided by the FBI.

    Our internal records show a much different history with this client. We rely on information submitted to us by our clients to prepare complete and correct returns. Our tax returns are prepared by seasoned tax professionals and reviewed by CPAs before release. We do not refund tax agency penalties for issues caused by incorrect or incomplete client information.

    This is originally Fitzpatrick and Associates. They changed their name to cover up their incompetence. This company is a complete fraud. I would give 0 stars if I could. They charged my husband and I a fee for completing our 2023 taxes that we never had them do AND sent us to collections even when we asked to prove that they did! This is fraud in all of the definition of the word. Do not ever sign up to do business with these people. Not only will they begin charging for services you never received, but their staff will not help you navigate your issue because they truly have no clue what is going on in that office. Now we are sent to collections for a bill we disputed and called about and their staff doesn't even know about! Take your business elsewhere. We will be opening a lawsuit, anyone else reading this and has had the same issue, please get a hold of us and we will add you to a class action lawsuit we are opening up TOMORROW.

    We take client relationships seriously, and try to work out any billing disputes before sending to collection. To that end, we keep copious notes on client interactions with staff and do no work without specific instructions from the client. Work only begins after client acceptance of formal engagement documents. Accounts are sent to collection after all attempts to facilitate payment are ignored by client. Our business is like all others - we expect to be paid for services rendered. Our file notes and records do not support the details presented above. They show diligent efforts to accommodate client concerns and bring the account balance to zero. When those efforts are ignored, we have no choice but to submit the account to collections.

    THE worst professional company I have worked with. I did not pick them. My CPA of 40 years retired and sold the business to Fitzpatrick. Some of the original staff stayed. , 1. They are not located at the address shown. Instead, on Blue Larkspur In Monterey 2. Changed their company name to Versant Advisors in June, 2024. I never got the letter they supposedly sent. 3. They do not communicate with their clients. My account manager left back in 2022, I emailed my tax documents. Did not get a response and frantically called the office. There is no receptionist who answers the phone so I left a general message for him to call me back. I had to call their San Luis Obispo office since Monterey didn't respond. Several days later I got a call from another account manager to let me know she will handle my account. 4. Next time I called - no response. Several weeks later, I called and learned the lady had left. 5. If you want a company that returns calls, responds to email and keeps you informed when your account manager leaves, this is not the company for you. 6. They are good at their billing. Billed me for a completed tax return based on estimated numbers only. One would think they would have read my email or called me. They kept adding late fees. It almost gave me a mental breakdown. 7. They held my tax return hostage until I paid them. I don't take it personally since I noticed on Nextdoor that many other clients are done with them also and had the same miserable "service". You show a AAA rating - I give them a -5

    This is the worst accountancy firm I have come across, and as an attorney, I have come across many. The consumer needs to be warned. They don't respond to emails or calls for weeks, they charge over $100 for additional copies of documents to be EMAILED (i.e. it costs them nothing), and they don't provide any worthwhile tax advice. I would strongly encourage not using them.

    Our communication logs clearly note our response to her inquiries were made timely considering the time of year and her place in line. Our engagement letter, signed by this client, spells out our instruction to keep tax return copies on file for future use and if a copy is requested, we charge a fee. This notice is also stated in bold on the tax return client letter and client tax return release form signed by client. Our file notes are clear as to client inquiries on tax matters, and indicate no additional advice was requested by this client incidental to our preparation of tax returns.

    Great experience every year. As a business owner and client, I cooperate when information is requested by my CPA. But I think some people would rather cause a stink, play the blame game, and write a negative review. Not me! Keep doing great work!
