On 11/11/** I bought a motor from JDM ******************************* for my vehicle. I specifically picked JDM WestCoast because they offered a 90 day warranty. When I purchased the motor they told me due to the type of motor they could only offer a 30 day warranty. I was ok with that and purchased the motor. I had it installed and I was then told after installation that the motor wasn't good and needed to be taken back. The crew uninstalled the motor and I brought it back to JDM within my 30 day warranty window (18 days). I asked to exchange the motor and was told it wasn't under warranty. I then took out my receipt and asked them to show me where it says I can't exchange or be refunded since I was bringing it back within ******************************************************************************* the right. However they refused to help me. I then called the local sheriff and had them come out to help in the dispute. The ************************** came out and read the receipt and agreed I was in the right. She went in and spoke to the representative at JDM WestCoast and they still would not return or exchange the motor. I then filed a police report. File # **-00024261 **************************. All I want is to exchange the defective motor they sold me or get a refund so I am able to get my car back on the road.Initial Complaint

The engine I purchased with 90 days warranty is bad and even though it's still within the 90 days which expire the 15th of Dec 2022 they are telling me that it's not covered due to gaskets and sensors not being changed which is not stated in the invoice they provided now the engine has multiple leaks and keeps blowing out sensors, they advertise the engine as ready to install. Only items to be changed are timing belt and tensioner listed on their invoice and they verbally told me about exhaust manifold for emissions, so basically they sold me an engine that needs to be rebuilt after advertising it as ready to installBusiness response

These are USED Japanese imported engines. It is the technician's job who's performing the installation to look over and replace any part that *** require replacement. That is a part of maintenance on an engine. Please refer to line #6 in the warranty segment of your invoice, "ALL PARTS ARE SOLD WITH EXPECTATION THAT WILL BE INSTALLED BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL IN A LICENSED REPAIR FACILITY...THAT ALL PROCEDURE'S OUTLINES BUT THE
VEHICLE MANUFACTURE SERVICES OR WORKSHOP MANUAL ARE FOLLOWED, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL VOID ANY AND ALL WARRANTYs". As well as line #**, "NO WARRANTY ON SEALS AND LEAKS".Customer response

The purchased engine was delivered to a licensed garage and inspected and installed by a licensed mechanic, the salesman said engines are install ready but "one" part has to be changed related to emissions, and once the engine began failing they then said I needed to replace a bunch of sensors and other parts in order for it to run properly, classic bait and switch tactics, had I known I basically had to rebuild engine I would have never done business with these scam artists, their product is faulty and they don't honor their warranty and their sales people scam people into believing these engines are install readyInitial Complaint

I ordered a motor and had it shipped to Boise Idaho. It sat there for 3 weeks until it could be installed when the mechanic went to unwrap it there was damage to the actual motor casing. JDM claims it is a secondary oil Pan but it cannot be exchanged for mine is damaged as they want to ship a secondary oil Pan for replacement. This will not work. They agreed The shipper damaged it But say it's too late to go after them they hired him I did not. That is on them. Nothing in the contract stating such. Need compensation!Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/10/12) */ The engine was damaged during shipping and the receiver is in charge of inspecting the shipment before they sign off on the delivery. If the damage had been found immediately, we would have been able to open a case with the courier. Since the shipment was stored for nearly a month, the courier is free of liability and there is nothing we can do on our end as our warranty policy only covers internally defective engines. We offered a replacement secondary oil pan to the repair shop performing the install but did not hear back from them as they had resolved the issue. We spoke with the technician performing the install on the vehicle and they have stated that they were able to swap out the secondary oil pan and the engine is in the vehicle and running. Customer has picked up the vehicle and has had it under their possession for over a week now. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/10/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) That is a blatant lie. We did respond! I personally called the company twice. We did not swap a secondary pan we had to patch it. Also no matter the time it sat they hired the shipping company not me. Nothing states in their contract of the claim they are making. Countless bad reviews and bad buisness. Enough with the redirect and step up and take care of buisness. I would like some form of compensation for this mess.Initial Complaint

I purchased an engine from this company for the amount of $**** cash but did not have a way to take it with me then and there so the owner **** said not to worry and for me to get a truck and go back the next day. When I went back for it the next day, my engine was no longer there and he told me because one of his employees had sold it but for me not to worry because he gets those engines ( 2JZ-VVTI GTE ) all the times and he was getting more in his next shipment but after waiting for some time he didn't call so I then called him and one of his employees told me they had some in ( 2JZ-VVTI GTE )I then went to try and pick up my engine he owed me and he refused to give it to me because I found out he was selling them for double the price $******** and was making more than double the profit so I plead to him to allow me to get my engine and he said no because he was making to much money on them and for me to wait until they went down in price. I then explained that I already had waited for to long and had all my parts ready for car to get the engine put in and get it running and then told me to bad and to wait. I just want my engine ( 2JZ-VVTI GTE )because I already purchased all the parts necessary for it and can't return them. He tried to lie and say that he had tried calling me and I never answered so I then told him what made the difference if he had it thre why just not let me take it and he said because he was making to much money. At the time he sold it to me that was the going price but they went up in price in a short period of time where ots not right that he is not being a fair salesman and is taking advantage of his position. Please help, thank you very much.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/20) */ Customer claims to have purchased the engine but did not immediately pick up said engine. The engine in question was on our premises for a couple of months before any attempt at picking it up was made. Customer was presumably using our facility as a storage unit. A few 2JZGTE engines were in stock between said time period and the engine in question was sold unknowingly by an employee. Once an attempt was made to pick up the engine by customer, that is when it was realized that the engine was not on our premises. Customer was asked to wait for upcoming shipment as we would be receiving more 2JZGTE engines. Once the container arrived, all 4 engines that arrived were tested and inspected. Customer did not want to take any of the 4 that arrived. Customer was offered refund but he did not want a refund and did not want any of the 4 2JZGTE engines. We are no longer importing/receiving any 2JZGTEs from ***** as the price for said engines in ***** are too high to import. As the customer has not contacted us in 2 years regarding this matter, our system has lost all information as it does not store invoices that far back. At this time, customer is free to receive a full refund once again as long as proof of purchase is presented. We can no longer provide any more 2JZGTE's in general.
