My neighbor hired AMK Hardscapes LLC to build their new patio in their rear yard. A wood fence separates our properties. *** last week began grinding concrete and stone to use as pavers. Huge plumes of smoke filled the air. The air was white with concrete and stone dust. My 2nd floor balcony was covered with concrete dust because there was so much. This dust came on to my property, and it was like a light layer of snow of concrete dust over everything in my backyard. My neighbor who hired them, was also frustrated, and when they asked AMK why they weren't using machine cutting tools with water (to reduce dust) or tent the work area the answer from AMK was that the cleanup took longer. This is not a satisfactory answer. I am concerned about the health implications to myself, my neighbors children, and the *** workers who have clearly had no training. Also the workers were NOT wearing masks or eye goggles at all. My neighbor had to give them masks which they then stopped using after the first day. I believe this may also be an OSHA violation. After my neighbor spoke to the company, and they assured him that they would finish the stone cutting in the alley with the water cutter to reduce dust, 2 days later they were grinding in the backyard again without masks and causing a plume of smoke yet again. I had to run outside again and yell for them to stop when the worker looked up at me , who was the same worker from the previous week, he simply said Oh... the dust .... Yes! the dust. I believe my neighbor who hired them may also consider filing a complaint, but since he already paid them in full I think he is worried they won't finish the job. Thank you.

I filed a previous complaint, and only after I did that was the company at all responsive to our problem with our driveway. While they were fixing the extensive problems with the grout falling out, they damaged the coating that we have on our garage floor (working near the garage). It took several months to get them to address that issue, and when they did, the repair they did didn't match the existing floor (not even close). They admitted that it was incorrect, but kept putting me off even though I gave them the information of the company where they could obtain the proper matching floor coating. During this back and forth, the original problem with the grout started to appear/occur again. Now they refuse to address either problem. I see that they filed a response to my original complaint saying that it had been resolved. That's absolutely untrue, and I have retained an attorney to file suit. This company talks a good game to get you to hire them, says they'll take care of any problems, but will not do so on any reasonably timely basis, even after they admit that the problem exists, I have previously submitted copies of the contract, and have extensive pictures of the grout issue as well as the damage to our garage floor. I told the owner that unless he committed to a specific written plan (I now have no trust whatsoever in anything they tell me) to fix the problems with a specific timetable to do so, my only recourse will be to hire an attorney (which I had done initially this summer, but dropped the legal action when they attempted the first repair). The owner has not responded in any manner to that request for almost two weeks. Hire AMK Hardscapes at your own risk.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AFTER I POSTED THE FOLLOWING REVIEW A FORMER EMPLOYEE TOLD ME THAT THE ***** GETS PEOPLE TO REMOVE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BY BEGRUDGINGLY FIXING THE PROBLEMS THEY HAVE. SO DONT BE FOOLED AS SADLY WE WERE BY THE LACK OF NEGATIVE POSTINGS. IVE BEEN TOLD THERE WERE AT LEAST A DOZEN IN THE PAST YEAR. I see that all prior reviews have been very positive. That was our experience initially, but once we had problems with the grout in our $50K+ driveway everything changed. With no luck trying to reach ***** (the person I was told by our sales rep to call for service), I was able to finally reach **** the owner of the company who came out, looked at the problem, ADMITTED THAT THEY HAD HAD PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE COMBINATION OF THE PAVERS AND THE ***** THEY SOLD US, and said theyd get us in the schedule for repair (likely 6 weeks). We agreed to that as we were traveling in the interim, and wanted to be in town. When we returned I attempted to call to finalize a repair date. Again, no answer and no return calls. I finally called the owner **** again, and after two calls additional calls to him with no answer and no reply, a totally different guy, ****** called, and said hed be the one to come to assess the situation. We set up one appointment which he called and moved by an additional two days. Today was that appointment. After being 40 minutes late, I called him, only to be told hed supposedly tried to call to say hed be late, and now hed be there in 15 to 45 minutes. He finally called an hour later to ask our address (which he had completely wrong). Finally he showed up, AGAIN ADMITTED THAT THEYD HAD THE SAME PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY, and suggested that he could power wash the driveway, BUT THAT WOULD PULL UP MORE PIECES OF THE ***** AND WED POTENTIALLY END UP WITH WEEDS GROWING UP THROUGH THE DRIVEWAY. I told him that was a completely ridiculous suggestion as a solution, and told him to have the owner call me. The owner has now told me to *** him.
