The night of March 2rd I was admitted to The Medical Center of Aurora ER for a severe nosebleed (discharged after midnight on 3-3-2023). I warned the stuff that I was taking blood thinners and I was also tested for INR level and was told that my blood was like water. Despite that I was installed a standard fabric rhino rocket nose plug and I was told that I could leave immediately. They kicked me out so fast the administrator didnt even have a chance to charge the co-pay. I started bleeding through the plug in a car on the way back. I had to return to ER right after being discharged and got a more effective plastic balloon plug. I learned my ****** and waited for over an hour to make sure it stopped the blood flow. At that point I was charged $250 co-pay. Now the hospital is trying to charge me co-pay for the original service. So I am being charged twice to fix the original problem. The doctors knew that my blood does not clot and applied a solution that had little chance of working and did not wait even few minutes to see if it worked. To make me pay for the same service twice creates an artificial incentive for doctors to create unnecessary work for themselves to get paid more and punishes the patient for the doctors negligence and indifference. I unsuccessfully tried to dispute this bill with Medical ****************** at ************.

On Saturday May, 14th 2022, I had a house fire and was taken to The Medical Center of Aurora to get checked out by an ambulance in the *** I was not in any physical pain and had NO visual injuries but I was in extreme distress about my home and pets that I rescued from inside the house. The ***s proceeded to take me to the *** they gave me oxygen and an IV in the ambulance. I was not coughing or struggling to breathe at all and do not feel that I needed to go to the hospital. Upon arriving at The Medical Center of Aurora, I was placed in an ER room, they drew ***** and asked questions. I was alone and in there care for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours at the most; From the ambulance to when I was discharged. My insurance and I have been charged $19,582.28!!!!!! This is outrageous! My itemized **** says, "LAB/CHEMISTRY 1 CARBONXYHEMOGLOBIN QN $522.76" "LAB/CHEMISTRY 1 HCG QUALITATIVE SERUM $514.48""EMERG ROOM 1 LVL 5 EMER **** $18,545.04"3 items. This is highway robbery! I feel I was taken advantage of because I was in distress or shock. I have never had medical issues in the past so I was blind sided by what was happening. My husband was at the house also when the fire department and ***s showed up and they did nothing for him. So I will not be paying a dime to these thieves. My Patient Number is ***********. I would like this **** resolved as soon as possible. Also, I'd like to state that while in the ambulance riding to the hospital, the *** noticed that the rig had a flat tire. She stated to the ambulance team, "This rig is out of commission once we get there." So a lot of negligence on all parties involved. I should not be charged almost $20,000 for NOTHING!

Hello. In June of 2021, I went to the Medical Center of Aurora (behavioral clinic) to receive a mental health screening and receive information on an intensive outpatient program through Health One, an affiliate of the Aurora hospital. I completed the program, had my insurance pay for their portion of the ****, and paid for my portion. However, 6 months later (December 2021), I began getting debt collection calls from a third party company that collects debts for a number of hospitals, trying to collect payment for this one visit at the Aurora hospital (the one visit that screened me and set me up with the *** program). Apparently my insurance policy number was not written down correctly and therefore not properly submitted by the clinician. The collector is attempting to collect over $700 for an office visit that should have been completely covered by insurance. Now too much time has passed for my insurance to accept the claim. I have been told that the hospital will write this amount off as it was their fault the insurance claim was not submitted correctly yet I keep getting calls from collections. I need the hospital to write off this amount and for the collections to stop calling me. The files will show that I gave my insurance card on the day of my visit.
