I hired **** to replace a closet door in my bedroom. Unfortunately, not only did I not get what was asked for, but the final doors are barely functional. If I could attach pictures I would, but here are the key issues: The doors don't line up (ie, the alignment at the top is way off from the bottom) There are supposed to be door stoppers at the top so the doors don't flow inward - they simply do not work. He cut out large sections of the carpet to accommodate the hinges, far larger than was necessary, and now not only are there large holes in the carpet, but the hinges are fully exposed and different sizes. Also, he never said anything about cutting into the carpet until after it was done. I had initially asked for the doors to be flush to the wall, he did tell me that he wouldn't be able to do that, but that wasn't until AFTER he had cut into the wall and there was no other choice. - Each time I came home, there was saw dust all over my room and I had to tell him to put protective coverings on my carpet before he painted. Worst of all, I tried repeatedly to make clear what I was looking for, he had numerous opportunities to be honest and just tell me he wouldn't be able to do the job to my requests so I could at least cut my losses, and then he charged me higher than the initial quote, and when I got a second opinion on the job, I was quoted less than half of what **** charged in the first place. I do want to be fair and point out that I have an older home with unbalanced ceilings, and he was very polite to work with. I do think he tried, he was working hard, but professionals with more integrity and experience would have communicated up front. I would have appreciated if he would have just cut the quote, and informed me that it probably required a different/better skillset. Instead, I have to get it re-done and have a barely functional closet in the meantime.
