On September 15, 2023 I had my 2006 Jeep Cherokee towed to Mobile Crew Chief for an engine issue that was diagnosed by another shop. That diagnosis was the engine seized and needed replacement. The engine was replaced by Mobile Crew Chief in 2020, by a relative. I brought the Jeep to the shop as it could be under warranty. I unfortunately did not have the original receipt and ************** said he could not find the copy in his records. A week went by, and I did not hear from the shop. I texted ***************** the owner and he said he was going to look at it (take the valve cover off) and have the engine rebuilder that did the work look at it. After that, weeks went by and I went down to the shop in person. The vehicle was still sitting outside the shop, in the same place it was dropped off. I inquired as to the status and we discussed costs. No estimate was given and we verbally agreed on a ***** deposit and he would get a diagnosis and estimate as it was hard to estimate the total costs. I never received an estimate or diagnosis. I was told through multiple texts over a 7 month period, that it was being worked on, was at the engine rebuilders shop, he was having parts problems etc. I repeatedly asked for an estimate and tally of what work had been done. I did not receive that in writing, text or verbally. Finally, (April 7th) my son (who drives the car) and his mom, went there and he told them (he was not there, over the phone which was recorded) that it needed a new engine and it was ***** before labor. He said he was sorry and would refund the ***** deposit. Since then, he has refused to provide any documentation that it was diagnosed, a written receipt for work completed or a refund. I had the vehicle towed from his shop and it did not appear that any work was completed. The engine had layers of dirt on it, no evidence of repair, (would think to see hand/finger prints where it was accessed). No written diagnosis or estimate was provided.
