After renting through ******, was denied car at the counter, due to bizarre policy of not renting to local residents. They accepted my rental request and payment, but did not immediately offer a refund after denying me a car. Do not rent from this company.

Wrong Key Can't Shut Off Car -Out of State Daily Charge-Three (3) Hour Shuttle Wait An erroneous charge of $139.93 to my credit card by Routes Car Rental for allegedly taking the rented vehicle out of State. Upon the return of said vehicle May 22, 2024 I told the girl at the counter that I didn't AND the full amount was paid and affirmed by Routes employee, *****, at the counter of Routes Car Rental, ****************************************, for car rental including insurance, through *******, a travel booking app and online travel marketplace that sells rental cars. After picking up the vehicle that was given to me on May 16th 2024, having driven over one (1) hour I received a phone call from Routes Rental Car employee ******, who asked me not to shut off the vehicle!! She said that the vehicle key faub was NOT the correct one. She then asked me to look at the license plate and compare it with the key label. It was a different license plate number. She told me that I had to wait where I was at in the town of *****************, ******** until someone to arrive with the correct key faub AND I couldn't shut off the vehicle. 1: This meant that I would have to remain inside of the vehicle without drinking anything for fear of having to go to the bathroom.2: I also would have to make sure the vehicle was not turned off for air conditioning.3: Not able to leave the vehicle to ensure it wouldn't be ********* hope was that the erroneous error be resolved expediently by REMOVING the $139.93 ********* credit card company having investigated this charge and with no replies for requested correspondence from Routes CAR Rental - denied the added out of state charge in July. ++Eight (8) months later++Received an email saying that I owed this company out of state driving charges with interest. They also notified me by email that they sent notification in the mail which I had never received and will proceed to send me to collections if I don't pay the out of state charge.

Title: Frustrating and Unaccommodating Experience We rented a car from Routes in ******** through *******, and the entire experience was frustrating from start to finish. When we picked up the car, we realized Routes has a no early drop-off policy, which immediately caused an issue because their business hours didnt align with the time we needed to be at the airport. We asked if we could drop the car off earlier and receive a refund for the unused day. Routes told us they couldnt help since the payment was made through ******* and directed us to contact them. When we called Expedia, they said they couldnt assist without checking with Routes. After ******* contacted Routes, Routes refused to provide any refund, even though they said we could return the car early. Essentially, wed still be charged the full price regardless of returning it early, which makes no sense.Whats baffling is that Routes charges fees for dropping a car off late or at another location, yet they refused to accommodate an early return request or adjust the cost. The back-and-forth between Routes and Expedia wasted our time and left us paying for a day we didnt use the car.The lack of flexibility, accountability, and customer service from both ********************** and Expedia was unacceptable. I wouldnt recommend renting from Routes or booking through Expedia if youre looking for a hassle-free experience.

Here is an explanation of how the rental experience went: 1. I purchased vehicle insurance through *******, which is what I always do, and your agent told me that Routes doesn't accept insurance from *******. The amount I paid Expedia was $60 and yours was $125 so I suppose that's why you don't accept Expedia's. I called Expedia and they told me the exact opposite. That Routes does accept their insurance. I would like for this to be confirmed. 2. Chip in the windshield was charged to me. When I picked up the car it was extremely dark outside. The agent did go out and take pictures of the car. When I got in the car the chip wasn't noticeable because it was so dark outside and the car was dirty. So now I have been charged $100 for that. 3. The car when I picked it up was extremely dirty, embarrassingly dirty, and I do not like to drive dirty cars, especially one that I have paid to rent. The outside was ********** covered. The wheels & tires were so dirty they looked brown rather than black. And the most disgusting thing was that the inside was coated with red dog hair from front to back. It also smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. I had to have the car washed because it was that embarrassing for me to drive. 4. Lastly, the agent that checked me out took an extremely long time. I saw other customers come and go while I was still waiting to be let go. He then stated that this was his first day out of training. I'm making this statement as maybe that is why he said I couldn't use ******************* and why he didn't write down that there was a chip in the windshield. I rent a car every other month when I'm in ****** and I always use Enterprise because they are very good about these things I'm complaining to you about. I decided to use you this time because your price was great. So as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for". After the fact I researched your "reviews' and they weren't that great. I should have read them before I made reservations with Routes.

We rented a car in August, 2024. We returned it with a crack in the windshield, and gave them claim infor from our insurance company, who agreed to cover it.They never contact the insurance, and when I challenged the claim with my credit card, they never responded. As of December 6, 2024, they are still holding my deposit, and I cannot get anyone on the phone. Filing a lawsuit is next. Sooooo not worth it.

The shuttle was in disrepair. They gave us a keep wrangler instead of the car I booked. No drop off procedures were read or discussed, and so they charged us $150 for leaving it in front of the gates, as they didnt have an after hour key box. Horrible service, they dont like to talk to anybody, and when I called their customer service line because the office number was unreachable, I was told to complain via email. They were all rude. If I wanted bad communication and attitude, I would have gone back to my ex. No thank you.

I rented a vehicle through this company for a set amount. However, when I arrived at their Denver office to pick up the vehicle, I was forced to purchase their insurance, despite having full coverage through my own car insurance, which extends to rentals. I was left with no choice but to accept their overpriced insurance in order to complete the rental. From what Ive seen, this appears to be a recurring issue with this company. It is unacceptable for customers to be forced into unnecessary charges, and I believe they need to take immediate action to address these practices.I would strongly suggest renting from a larger, more reputable company. Dont let this company ruin your vacation.

Will suprise you with additional charges appearing on your credit card, even after you have returned the vehicle and confirmed verbally that there aren't any additional charges.
