On 1/20/2024, I hired **** Thompson of T. Thompson Construction LLC. **** came to work on the 20th with a young son. I had a written agreement of the scope of work to be completed by *********** **** mentioned that he had a need for help due to a shoulder surgery in the past. ***** son was to paint a small bedroom, ****************** **** started placing 6x6 tiles in the bathroom. **** had inspected the walls prior to mixing thin set & placing tiles. There were a few issues but, **** seemed to have an idea of how to manage the job. On Troys Nextdoor page he boasts 30 years experience and was recommended to me by an acquaintance. While cutting tiles with a wet saw, **** didn't want to splatter tile water on my brand new drywall/freshly painted wall so, **** used a large black s**** to hold a sheet of plastic up on the wall. Why **** decided to use a s**** rather than the frog tape he had with him is beyond belief. It upset me that he would do that to my brand new wall. Next, **** did not back butter with thinset appropriately, now a few tiles have come off the wall. **** and son were at my house for 8 hrs. **** said he was coming back the next day to finish. He didn't & claimed he couldn't drive due to medication he had taken that made him dizzy. Before **** left he asked for half of the $550. I have gave him$275. Too which, he took in cash and signed the bid. The next day **** was saying he couldn't make it over. Displeased by the work of this ************ team I told **** to get his things that we were done. The tile work has to all be redone because **** did not secure alot of the tiles correctly. Many tiles were used and I purchased all supplies. Alot of tiles used that I'm losing money on. I have to paint and repair hole in the wall. The work doesn't equal payment. I want $150 back for shoddy workmanship by ************** All work was substandard on the whole and will need redone.

This lady was extremely hard to work with. I planned on finishing the project which was compromised in the first place. Walls out of plumb shoddy install of the shower pan and related tile backer. Other contractor(s) had mentioned difficulty in the tile installation as per the homeowner. The tile was back-buttered as per industry standard. As far as the pricing she talked me down 150$ of my original suggested price. Which I was not happy with but agreed as it was a referral. The paint on the wall was fresh and tape did not stick the tiny hole from a drywall s**** could have been filled with spackle or caulking and touched up no problem as I mentioned tiny hole. That has been vastly exaggerated as the whole claim has. The price was far less than it should have been. So I dont feel a refund is appropriate. She had mentioned she couldnt find anyone to do the project and its no wonder with her attitude.

I am rejecting this response because:

    Sincerely,
I read this contractors response. And, it was just the opposite as his attitude was wrong from the beginning. It was up to this contractor to notice anything out of plumb and provide a solution. Which, he did not. Even his own referral was displeased with his attitude and the work he did. We agreed upon a price of$550 rather than a higher price point because, what was quoted was too high for he and his son. He agreed to that price and got half of that after day one. The tile job was looked over by several experts and the conclusion was that it was not done properly and would not hold up. The tiles were barely back buttered. This contractor complained about his previous shoulder surgery and the pain pills he took the following day. In the end, everything he did with tile had to be removed. And, the paint job on the 3 rooms has to be finished. It's steamed and uneven. This contractor wasted tiles that I paid for. I feel, this waste and inept work needs to be compensated by the contractor. $150. The contractor also, put the hole in my brand new dry wall. Nobody agreed with this. And his referral blocked his number. This contractor needs to own up to his poor workmanship and make things right with the customer. Not, come in and take half a days ******** to leave a poor quality job.
